Cardio Queen OUT!
Working out is my thing. If you were to open my planner, the first thing you’ll see at the top of my daily to-do list is a list of exercises that will be completed.
There were some days that I worked out for two hours. I would lift, run, and complete an insane workout or some high-intensity training. Then I would hobble to my bathtub, pour a ton of Epson salt in my water, and soak my tired, injured bones for at least 3o minutes.
Then I started to read about the 40 and up club having knee and hip replacements, rotator cuff surgery, and every other injury you can think of. I began to reorder my steps because having surgery because of something I did was out of the question.
The recovery time is wild, and you will have to start completely over in regards to rebuilding your muscles.
Scaling Back Workout Time Was a MUST!
The thought of scaling back on my workouts scared the shit out of me because the last thing I want is to gain weight. I know how my body works and how quickly I gain weight. The thought of putting my fork down is a nightmare right, but if I’m restricting the intensity level and lowering the number of workouts, then the fork has to come down.
My caloric intake CAN’T BE GREATER THAN the calories burned!
When To Take Your 10-Minute Walk:
After each meal! It’s just that simple. These walks will help food digestion and decrease gas and bloating. Taking three short walks a day is proven to be more beneficial than a 6o minute workout. Staying active throughout the day is better for your metabolism than putting your body through strain for 60 minutes, not to mention the fact that you’re saving yourself from injury.
A couple of times a month, I’m going to share more benefits of 10-minute walks and many more little tricks you can do to jump-start your metabolism and drop weight without stressing out.
Until then, get outside and enjoy life!
You could have chosen any blog to read, but you chose mine, and I’m honored!

Great post. “you will have to start completely over in regards to rebuilding your muscles.” Groan. I used to have a routine… dunno, the past 6 months I’ve been very lax. Tried to go to the gym and had to reset the weights to embarrassing levels. The 10 min walk with a few pushups and crunches might be the answer 😎

Don’t ever be embarrassed Darryl!!! Atleast you are trying and that’s very commendable! We fall down sometimes but we get right back up and fight 😁

Thanks for sharing. It’s also so good for insulin resistance too to walk after every meal. Every little bit counts.

I like the idea of three 10 minute walks after each meal. That’s doable and doesn’t require a change of clothes. Thanks for the idea.

Exactly! I like the idea of just putting on flip flops if I want to. Sometimes the idea of putting on sneakers is a bit much and makes the walk feel like a workout.

The little walks help so much… we have to take it easier on ourselves as we get older. I know that’s the apporach I need to take.

Great tip. It’s unfortunate that a great meal often makes one want to sit back and relax. 🤓
