Me vs the donut~ The struggle is real

I have a story that I’m sure many of you can relate to-the ongoing battle between our love for food and our desire to stay fit.

So, there I was, on a noble quest to eat healthier and exercise regularly. I was on a roll until my husband brought home these donuts that were so good—they made you want to slap somebody! These weren’t just any donuts; they tasted like they were handcrafted by the divine himself.

He brought home a dozen, and only four people, including me, were home to consume this box of deliciousness. Every time I walked past the kitchen, I stared at the box and hoped and prayed that one would start calling my name because then I would know we were meant to be together.

To make a long story short, I ate three of them, and well after my sugar high, I crashed!

And as I lay on the floor regretting my whole life, I shot daggers at my husband for doing this to me. He knows damn well donuts like these are my kryptonite, my Achilles heel, my… well, you get the point.

Later that day, I went to the gym to work it off. As I was running on the treadmill, all I could think about was how amazing those donuts were. I was sweating like a pig and panting like a dog, and all I could think about was that box of donuts and how my 300-pound son was home from college and could swipe the last one.

So I did what any foodie would do: I ended my workout early and sped home like a race car driver!

It’s a constant battle between my love for food and my desire to be fit! The struggle is real, but I’m no quitter, so I will continue to eat all my delicious food. I’m committed like that!

You could have chosen any blog to read, but you chose mine, and I’m honored!

  2. I recently regressed and began overeating and gained a significant amount of weight. I seem to be getting it back under control now. In my experience with weight loss, exercise is very important but it’s more what we put in our mouths. It’s possible to eat so much that it can’t be worked off. You look great Bella so I think you can handle an occasional indulgence.

  3. “So, there I was, on a noble quest to eat healthier … ” I knew already there that I would love this post! I can so absolutely relate!

Did you crash physically from the sugar? That would be awful. Though I did notice that lately my bloodpressure rises when I eat a lot of sweet stuff.

We try to live healthier, but it is so hard. Like today, when I had four bananas that threatened to get bad and simply had to be transformed into a cake, right? I hate to throw food away. We ate half, I hid the second half away, so that my husband cannot secretly eat it. 😉

It is like some writer once said: giving up sugar (smoking in his case) is easy, I do it every day! 😉 😀 ❤

    1. LOLOLOLOLOL! I love that line and I must use it. Stella I made banana bread the other day because I could not bing myself to toss those mushy bananas.
That is hilarious that you hid it from your husband. LOLOL

  4. Oh no, not the kryptonite donuts or doughnuts! 🍩🍩🍩 Gurl Queen B, if you didn’t eat those donuts, then I would think you were a robot! Thank you for letting us know that you are a real person, 🙏🏼 and comfort food is not always a bad thing, unless you overdose on it! But that depends on what the overdose is! LOL 🤣😜😂

    1. Girl I love me some food! That’s the only reason I workout all the other benefits are not a turn on for me. But give a sista a piece of cake or anything chocolate as motivation, the boom I’ll get my exercise on. LOL

  5. Haha… I loved how you left the gym for the last one. I always tell myself, as much as I want to stay fit, I should also eat good and enjoy the deliciousness around. But should always apply a balance, eat all the good I want but in small proportions. So far it has worked. I love how you’ve narrated the story…
