You threw that fish back for a REASON

Have you ever wondered why you throw that fish back, only to look for it again? In the context of relationships, this ‘fish’ could represent a past partner or a relationship that you’ve ended but find yourself longing for again.

So, have you ever tried your hand at fishing? Let me tell you why most people do it. 

More often than not, you’ll fish so you can catch and eat a good meal. The goal is to see a fish of an ideal size, and if it’s too small, you might throw it back and try to catch a better one. But when you do catch that perfect fish, the feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction is unparalleled.

I can’t help but scratch my head when I imagine someone throwing the fish back and then frantically looking for it again. Perhaps they aren’t looking for it, but after fishing for a while and having zero luck in catchin’ something better, we, in turn, start thinking how great the throwback fish really was.

Are we desperate people? Sometimes we think, “Well, something is better than nothing.”

But wouldn’t you rather have nothing than that sad, sorry-looking fish that you threw back?

She threw him back for a reason.

We can’t let life catch us feeling vulnerable and desperate. If you were in a relationship with someone and saw that they weren’t who you thought they were and broke things up. Then guess what? They are not going to change miraculously.

Even if you are lonely, the person that you pushed behind you should stay behind you. 

There are too many fish in the sea for you to be desperate enough to search for the one you threw back. You threw it back for a reason, and it’s up to you to remember why you did it.

Look after yourself because if you don’t do it, who will? How are you looking after you today?

  1. I am looking after myself by resting after working overtime. I’m also going to kick my feet up, search for a movie, watch it, and then go to sleep.

    I’ve thought about a few fish I’ve thrown back over the years and lusted after them and then I remembered why I tossed those suckers back and was like, “Yeah, NO!” 😂😆🤣

  4. lol, love this! It’s funny because I saw an ex this morning & the friends I was with couldn’t understand why I didn’t approach him to say hello. It’d be one thing to speak in passing, but not go out my way across a train track, lol. I meant Goodbye when I said it.

I’ve kind of been lucky that way, I always seem to have a couple of people looking out for me…or have done what they could to stear me straight…..sometimes I didn’t listen, or didn’t pay attention, things didn’t go so well…..I’ve always appreciated it though….too often those beside weren’t those right people, it was those that encouraged me to join them…

  7. These are wise words, BellaDonna. There are so many reasons people go back to the familiar. If we were wise enough to leave, we need listen to that wisdom.
