Look After Yourself Friday

What a crazy two days I had!

Let me tell you, when you become a parent, expect the unexpected and get ready to put your life on hold because your kids surprise you with life-changing events.

Those of you who have read my blog for the past few years know that I have a big ole boy who plays football. He chose to play for West Point. I know I didn’t tell y’all that at that time, but he’s no longer there now, so I feel safe to say the name of the school (there are some crazy folks in this world and they don’t need to know all my business).

When he graduated from West Point’s prep school, I knew he didn’t feel good about returning for the next four years. So he hit the transfer portal, which means my husband and I are back on the road, traveling to different colleges that want to meet him and us.

It’s a time-consuming process, but I have to admit, WE LOVE IT!

Free football games, food, and getting treated like royalty never gets old!

My boy had to talk to all the coaches and put on a show, and man, did he do great!

And now we are headed home so we can get ready for an entire weekend of soccer, but not just any soccer, EARLY morning soccer. So yeah, by Sunday, my husband and I will be looking like this.

But you know what? One day, all three of our kids will have a family of their own and not need us for the day-to-day things like they do now. So, with that in mind, I’ll spend this Friday and this weekend looking after them and then wait patiently for the following weekend.

What are y’all doing to look after yourself today?

You could have chosen any blog to read, but you chose mine, and I’m honored!

  1. Wishing your son much success in his new school. Love your positive approach to parenting. Wonderful! Today is my hubby’s birthday so it’s all about him but tomorrow will be my look after yourself day again.💕

  2. I hope your son finds the perfect place for his talent and his personality! Lots of choices. It’s a difficult decision and lots of work but you’ll look back on this time fondly in the near future. Enjoy it all. Hugs, C

  3. Now that tomorrow is Friday, I answer last Friday’s post! Can I tell you how glad my kids didn’t get into sports? Well… not really but I have to tell myself there is a bright side. I was athletic and all over the place but they didn’t get that from me. C’est la vie.
Here in Canada, we don’t do the school rounds the same way you Americans do (then again, maybe if I had a start (name sport) player, maybe we would… Moot.
And when they move out, it is so nice when they just come for a visit. Just sayin’!
