You Made Me Feel Seen

There is a significant difference between “Yeah yeah I see you, I hear you” and “I see you, I hear you!

Relationships can be tricky, especially the longer you stay in one the trickier it can get. It’s so easy to stop trying to be impressive and lean towards being cranky and rude.

Taking each other for granted and becoming an angry pumpkin seems to be the rules of the game. Then you wonder why your partner has run off with the milkman/lady. Okay, maybe not the milk delivery person, but you get my point.

After a while in the relationship, we can start to look past your wife/husband as if they are void of feelings!

Storytime

Saturday night, my husband and I went out to dinner. He chose this beautiful, lively spot, which was full of well-dressed people and music that made you feel good without being overstimulating. The smells coming from the kitchen made me anxious to grab the menu and order one of everything.

When we walked in, there were three women there to greet you and show you to your seat. My husband told her we had reservations for 7:30, gave her his name, and we were seated.

As we sat at our table, I looked at him like a deer in headlights, and he said, ‘Oh no, is there a bathroom behind me?’ and I said, ‘Yes.’ I tried to remain calm and tell myself that everything would be okay. But before I could even think to calm myself down, my husband did something that made me feel seen.

He calmly thanked the hostess for seating us, slipped her some money, and said, ‘My wife can’t sit this close to a bathroom, so can you please show us to another table (one of my pet peeves is seated near a bathroom)?

The hostess said, of course, and led us to the most romantic spot.

The night was magical!

Was Today Typical?

Yes…yes, it was typical, and I appreciate his kindness and for making me feel SEEN.

You could have chosen any blog to read, but you chose mine, and I’m honored!

  1. He’s such a good one you’ve got there, Bella. Yup. And I KNOW you KNOW it. This is so sweet and considerate and kind and humbling, too. And the food looks DELICIOUS!
