It Sounded Nicer In My Head

So what had happened was…..

The other day, I took my girls to see Despicable Me, and the little couple next to me would not shut up!

They were talking so damn loud and disrupting my experience. I couldn’t hear the dialogue, I missed some crucial plot points, and worst of all, I couldn’t fully immerse myself in the movie’s world.

It’s just my luck that I sit right beside the bubble head talkers. If they were talking about the movie, I may have been okay with that, but they weren’t. They were giggling and talking about friends and who said what to whom, completely oblivious to the disruption they were causing.

This went on for 30 minutes.. 30 minutes!!!!!

I’m so shocked that I was able to keep my cool. I said a little prayer for them to shut up and for God to give me patience.

As soon as I ended my prayer, these fools took out their phone and decided that right now was the perfect time to take selfies. The guy giggled and said, “Oh shit, my hair looks a mess,” and then proceeded to fluff it. It didn’t help because he still looked like a hot mess. I couldn’t believe what was happening.

She convinced him that he looked gorgeous( she lied), and they took several pictures.

I snapped a little

In my head, I rehearsed a polite and firm request for them to be quiet, imagining it coming across as assertive but respectful. However, when I actually turned to my right and told them to be quiet, it came out much more harshly than I intended. The words that sounded so reasonable in my head suddenly seemed so aggressive. It was a stark realization of how differently things can sound in our heads compared to when they’re actually spoken aloud.

But I’m okay with that!

After I told them to shut up, the love birds fell asleep and missed the last 60-plus minutes of the movie.

Good night you chatty little minions!

You could have chosen any blog to read, but you chose mine, and I’m honored!

  1. You go girl!! I’ve been known to whisperer during a movie about the movie to who I’m with, but I try to keep it super quiet and again respect the other people around me.

Those buffoon sitting near you no idea what manners polite is what other people really mean.

  2. How rude!! I honestly can’t believe you kept your cool that long! I’d have moved if they refused to shut up! One has to wonder why they bothered wasting their money, they obviously didn’t care for the movie! 🙄

    1. They really were. You would have thought they wewre home alone, all hugged up and talking like they were seats apart. But when the bright camera light came out I was done with them.
I’m like first you came here to chit chat and then take an expensive nap. Ridiculous!

  3. Haha. You held out longer than I would have. You really did! It’s one reason why if I do go see a movie, I go really early on a Saturday or Sunday morning. 😂😆🤣

I can’t do disruptions, especially if I’m really into the movie or characters.

  4. Oh God! Belladonna ❤ … one time, can’t remember the movie (always hinky about theatres anyways), but went to my seat trying to oversee anything nasty so not to sit in it. Went down normal, but the back was broke, … so I went flat, but my leg shot up, kicking the lady in front of me right in the back of her head! (Assumed) husband was going to kill me, when he saw me sprawled out just started laughing! I apologized 100 times! Crazy humiliation. I’m better at home ~ LOL 😉

    1. OMG LOLOLOLOLOLOL! I am so sorry but that is hilarious. The kick in the head would had me literally laughing out loud. I’m glad they had a sense of humor and saw that you were just as bad off as her.

  6. Haha, hilarious! I don’t think I would have waited 30 minutes, I admire your patience! This is exactly why I don’t enjoy to go to the cinema anymore, annoying blabbing people. And that the sound is usually too loud. I need cotton wool in my ears and can still hear everything. Is everybody else deaf?

No, we wait until the movies are on one of the channels or on TV without advertising, at home, where we can stop them, get some snacks or go to the bathroom without missing anything.

I can only imagine the rational conversation twirling through your mind, but then the Queen Crab came out with claws snapping…🦀🦀🦀…now THAT’S a movie! 😜 But what in the heck did they come to the movie for? They could have taken selfies in the freaking parking lot. That was rude and annoying and insensitive! UGH! 😝 Well, at least you didn’t go all Muhammad Ali on them!!!! 🥊🥊🥊
