Where Are The Doves?

I wanted to punch her, but it was apparent that her jealousy got the best of her!

Reminder to self: Never remain friends with someone who shows jealousy. I always knew this, but in the past, I gave people multiple chances to do right, and each one remained the same.

Storytime

I met Katie when I was in college. Her best friend was one of my good friends, and unfortunately, Trisha introduced us. On our first encounter, she wanted to go out dancing and, of course, have drinks.

I said no because I had to work in the morning, and I already had plans with my fiance that night. Katie stood up and said, “Well, let’s go without her; we’ll have more fun anyway”.

She expressed that single ladies have more fun together, but before she left, she turned to me and said, “Why would you want to be engaged while you’re in college”?

Her question didn’t require an answer, so I stood up, said goodbye to Trisha, and left.

A few weeks later, I was oh so blessed (insert eye roll) to have lunch with her and a few friends. At lunch, she apologized to me and explained that she wished her ex-boyfriend had been more like my fiance. She sadly stated, “You guys look so happy together.”

Over the following year, we got to know each other quite well, and needless to say, I didn’t care for her or her crusty attitude too much. Every time someone mentioned my wedding, she had to throw in a quick jab, and everyone knew she wished she was in a relationship.

So, when it came to our wedding day, I was shocked to see her standing there lurking in the shadows at my reception. This meant that she traveled 2 1/2 hours from our school with a group of our mutual friends.

As soon as she was able to speak to me at my reception, she said, well, your wedding was beautiful, but today, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Anniston were married, and they had white doves released. So, where are your doves?

I smirked and said, “Honey, when you’re marring your Prince Charming, you don’t need doves.”

And I walked right into my husband’s arms. And still do!

You could have chosen any blog to read, but you chose mine, and I’m honored!

      1. Yes so much nerve. My other friends must have thought she was invited and I didn’t care to correct them. I have another story to share about her this week and it was my last encounter with her.

  1. Had a long time friend that was jealous of my now wife, enough to the point that i began to question his sexuality. SMH, we havnt been friends for a long time but that was for another reason, we just kinda drifted apart.
