Saturday Fit Tip

This is the first fit tip of the year, and it’s one that you can reflect upon ALL YEAR!

I want you to go somewhere quiet and read this post in its entirety, and then please leave me a comment on how you see yourself. Not how does the world see you, but how do you see yourself?

  • Imagine if you lived in a world that cared about how you looked.
  • Imagine if you lived in a world that saw you before they heard you.
  • Imagine if you lived in a world that cared about how much you weighed. Imagine if you lived in a world that cared about the color of your skin.
  • Imagine if you lived in a world that judged you because of your religion.
  • Imagine if you lived in a world that cared about your sexual orientation.

Unfortunately, you don’t have to imagine any of this because we live in that world. Society expects us to be everything that we aren’t. We are set up to lose and second guess if we are good enough, just as we are.

As small children, we see kids who are outstanding students, excellent athletes, popular, pretty, rich, magnetic, charming, funny, and Lord forbid if they possess all of the above. We sit and compare ourselves to these people and then proceed to rip ourselves apart.

The problem is once we begin to dislike who we are, it takes a lifetime to build ourselves back up!

Once we turn on the comparison faucet, it’s difficult to turn it off. That leaky faucet causes insecurities to appear that then turn into roadblocks. And the roadblocks will prevent us from loving who we are and being thankful to be alive.

You can’t change how others see you, but you can change how their words or actions affect you. You can change how much energy you put into comparing yourself. You can change that negative light you’re shining on yourself. And you can’t choose to love yourself the way you are.

Imagine if we lived in a world where people lived under the notion that they were exactly what God had in mind.

How much more confidence would you have in yourself?

Is this an area that you need to work on this year?

You could have chosen any blog to read, but you chose mine, and I’m honored!

  1. As difficult as it is to be deaf to all that’s out there, we must become so.
I just watched a video with this wonderful woman Elise Myers saying this very thing. It’s okay to love ourselves as we are. Period.

  3. This is such a heartfelt and honest post.
We are busy overthinking our insecurities so much that we forget to ignore our strengths. It’s always a good idea to not judge other people harshly and quickly. But that will start by not comparing or judging ourselves.

  4. I saw the most powerful video short recently where kids and adults were asked what they’d change about themselves. Adults were quick with answers…their nose, puffy cheeks, thick thighs, etc. Children said things like Wings to fly, a mermaid tail and get this…”nothing.” We start out so untainted and take on the wounds of the world that whisper that we are not worthy just as we are.

  5. Reflecting on self-perception is a powerful exercise. Embracing one’s uniqueness and finding confidence in being true to oneself is key. It’s a journey worth taking to build a positive self-image and navigate the societal pressures we face. 🌟🤝🎉
