Your heart is safe with me

I sit, and I watch in admiration.

That type of connection that two people can share is something worth looking at.

This is the time of year that you reach out to people who mean something to you, or they reach out to you—wishing one another a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. And if you’re lucky, a visit may be shared.

And when the night of January 1st comes to an end, everyone’s lives tend to go back to what they were prior to the holiday season. Well, almost the same way. You may be carrying a few more goals and aspirations, but for the most part, things go back to normal.

Those are the moments that are real!

Those are the moments that keep you going and make you feel safe.

When I look at my daughter and how she comforts herself by being in the arms of her father, I know that that will always be her safe place, not just on Holidays but on any given day.

When she’s happy, stressed, or in a comfortable place, her dad’s arms are where she chooses to be.

Right before I took this picture, they were watching Barbie AGAIN. They were sitting right beside each other; she grabbed his hand and held it for a bit, and then, before you knew it, she was dragged across from him. He immediately wrapped his arms around her, closed his eyes, and enjoyed the moment.

Being who I am, I quietly took out my phone and captured this moment that they share all the time. But for some reason, this moment felt different. It may have felt different because she’s 14 and has the awareness that her dad has been that consistent strength in her life, and she knows that her heart will forever be safe with him.

  1. It’s beautiful to see you capture such memories. We may make money, chase dreams and travel where we wish, but nothing comes close to creating and sharing memories with, and making time for people who matter in our lives.

Thanks Belladonna for reminding us of the truly important things in life.
