Happy Tuesday, My Beautiful People!
Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and I know we are looking forward to that one dish that we can’t get enough of.
I would love to know which dish is your favorite.
Please come back tomorrow so you can get one of my favorite recipes, Collard Greens.
You could have chosen any blog to read, but you chose mine, and I’m honored!
~Belladonna~

We Canadians had our Thanksgiving last month and we are not into the yams and green bean casseroles and collard greens like you guys are. That said, I do love me a nice juicy turkey with gravy, stuffing, mashed potatoes and peas (weirdly, we were raised on canned peas and I need to have them at this time!)
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, Bella.

My favorite is my Granny’s wild rice recipe with sausage and mushrooms. It’s nostalgic—and a process, so we’re skipping it this time. Maybe for Christmas.

My Thanksgiving dish is a Nigeria’s local dish.
We call it Pounded Yam (fufu) and Egusi soup 😂😂

I used to love pumpkin pie, but now with dietary restrictions, and no one else in my family liking it, it is a distant memory. Turkey works too.

Awwww VJ! We gotta find you a gret alternative recipe. And you can have the pie all to yourself.

My family’s tradition is to make a meat dressing instead of a bread dressing for the turkey stuffing. I’ve never seen anyone else do anything quite like it — a mixture of ground pork (alternately: ground lamb) and beef with allspice, clove, heavy pepper and a bit of dried bread. There may be a few other ingredients, but I think those are the primary ones.
It is an acquired taste. Most family members don’t care for the flavor until their adults. Some never take to it. Which is fine — there’s more for me. But I didn’t develop a taste until around 21 years old.
It is either from my Swedish ancestors or my Acadian/Canadian ancestors (Acadians are precursors to Cajuns), and I lean more towards the latter as being the source of the recipe. It’s been in the family for at least a hundred years.

Wow!!!!! over 100 years, that is fascinating. And I think that sounds so darn good, all those flavors mixed together giving you a savory taste. Geesh, I need to try that.

I’ll see if dad will let me jot the recipe down and I’ll send it to you via contact form. I don’t think he’s possessive about it, but I never asked.

That would be amazing and I understand if he says hell no, I’m not sharing. LOL
