Why is it so hard to say I deserve this?
We deserve to praise ourselves.
We deserve to be grateful for where we are in life
We deserve to smile about our accomplishments.
We deserve to share our trials and tribulations
We deserve to be proud of the storms we have weathered
We deserve to share our UPS as well as our downs
From now on, brag about yourself. Be your biggest fan and do it with pride.
The other day I was thinking about one of my best friends who passed away a few years ago, and I just cried my eyes out. I know that I will never have a friend like her again (at least, I don’t think so). We knew when we each felt pain. I could look at her face or hear that specific tone in her voice and knew right away that she needed me to be present.
Whenever we talked on the phone, I knew hours would pass like minutes. We would begin by laughing so uncontrollably that my face would feel like it was about to fall off. And then, in a swift moment, we would be crying. Now that I think about it, I haven’t cried with a friend since she passed away; that explains my pinned-up emotions.
I miss her more than I could ever express. I need to hear her voice and laugh with her one more time. My heart hasn’t healed since her death, and I fear it never will.
One Of Our Last Phone Calls
We talked for hours about loving all the good, bad, and ugly about ourselves during one of our last conversations. We knew that we deserved to show appreciation for our whole selves. We never denied the good that comes with the bad.
We spoke about all the good things that we have earned and deserve.
She was her biggest fan, and she taught me how to be mine.
I deserve to praise myself
I deserve to be grateful for where I am in life
I deserve to smile about my accomplishments
I deserve to share my trials and tribulations
I deserve to be proud of the storms I have weathered
I deserve to share my UPS as well as my downs
My heart is full of love and appreciation……until we meet again!
You could have chosen any blog to read, but you chose mine, and I’m honored!

I’m so sorry for your loss. My best friend just had major surgery last month. They operated on her for more than 12 hours. Thank God she is doing all right. I really feel for you, Belladonna. xoxo
Why is it so against our nature to think that we deserve good things in our lives? I like the affirmation you provided and will begin saying that to myself every day.

Prayers to your friend. 12 hours!!!! Wow, that is so long!
So glad she is doing well.
I don’t know why wee feel like that about ourselves, but you most definitely deserve everything good that comes our way!
I’m so glad that you like this and will repeat it to yourself, that makes me happy.

I’m so glad you are so positive. Sometimes I feel like no one is meaner to me than the things I say to myself and that is not right. It’s a matter of reprogramming those things into what is positive instead. I don’t know if that made sense, but I do appreciate your posts a great deal.

funny, I kept reading to praise UPS?…Why would I praise a courier?…but yes, you’re so right, but it’s hard to do. it’s no secret that I’m not my biggest fan, self hate is my thing….I’ll finish races and have to problem cheering everyone else, but well, for myself, meh….I guess it’s finding that positive..if you can’t cheer for yourself, who will?

So sorry that you’ve lost such a dear friend. She’s very much still with you, as your post reveals ❤ As I see it, to believe that we are deserving of so-and-so comes with self-acceptance, self-forgiveness, and self-love.

Amen to that! I agree 100% self love is key.
I do feel like she is with me and it feels good to talk about her.

I had a friend like that. She also passed away – at the tender age of 42. Wrong on so many levels. She had finally been coming into her own and starting to love herself, too. Years of thinking she was lesser than were finally a thing of the past when she got sick. So not fair.
But I agree. We do deserve it.

I’ve lost more than I should have already. 42, 46, 50, 52, 56, 59 – and that’s off the top of my head.
Roxanne (42) was the closest; Brenda (50) was pretty darn close. Not to mention the hardest one, being my husband. Life, and all that stuff..

I know what you mean by a friend like that. I still have my ride-or-die, but I also lost a couple of amazing friends in the past as well. They were closer than some family members. But society has a way of making us feel embarrassed by or downplay our accomplishments and things we probably worked so hard for. Girlfriend, I threw that joker out the window a while back, although it took me a while to accept the fact that I will not allow anyone to make me feel undeserving or inferior to them at all. Why give them that kind of power and energy? They didn’t pay for what I have.
No girl, not today, and what…tomorrow ain’t lookin’ too good either.
