I heard the doorbell ring, but I couldn’t bring myself to answer. The moving truck was about to pull out, and my neighbor, whom I’ve known since 2013, stood at my door waiting to say goodbye.
She’s not moving far away; in fact, she’ll only be 5 minutes from me, but she’ll no longer be the neighbor that I see every morning and evening.
Remember the story I just told you about—the one where I locked myself out of the house? If you didn’t read it, please click here to read it and share a laugh with me Big Mistake ~Part2~ He BROKE into my house for $100.00.
Anyway, Judy is the neighbor—well, she was my neighbor. By the time you read this, it will be past tense.
Way to emotional
I currently have the flu, and my emotions are a wreck. Any little thing someone says or does makes me either extremely cry babyish or pissed off. And I knew if I opened the door and saw Judy standing there, I would turn to mush.
Judy and I share a love for laughter; our post-school run-ins were always filled with chuckles about the colorful characters in our neighborhood. From the nosy neighbors to the know-it-alls and the ‘lawn police,’ we found humor in everyone.
They are all laughable in their own right!
It won’t be the same
While I can still call and text Judy about the neighborhood shenanigans, it’s not the same. Her physical absence has left a void that can’t be filled.
When I saw her car drive away, relief ran over my entire body, and then I sat on my bed with my Kleenex and turned on “Everybody Loves Raymond.” A few laughs took my sadness away, at least for now.
You could have chosen any blog to read, but you chose mine, and I’m honored!

Aww, sorry Belladonna. It’s sad when you lose your people (esp in the neighborhood). Hang in there.

I remember the story when you locked yourself out. Judy is just the kind of neighbour we all need, and need to be. I hope you keep in touch.
But, who knows, maybe you get a great neighbour again ❤

NO!! ❤ You have every right to be sad and emotional … a security that you felt you had, isn’t there now, and that’s bittersweet. I would love to be your neighbor, and you should do interviews for who comes next (lol). Take extra care and know another neighbor is going to love you the same! ((Hugs))

Aww, lady. I know what this feels like, surely, I do.
I hope you’ll get better soon. Rest and drink plenty of liquids. Eat some homemade soup, too.
Here’s hoping you’ll be able to hang out with your former neighbor and friend often. 🙏🏾🩵
