Big Mistake ~Part2~ He BROKE into my house for $100.00

Her hands were full of trash bags, her hair was in a messy bun, she wore a green tube top, and she was wearing dingy grey sweats. She looked like she wouldn’t be seeing anyone or anything until she showered after cleaning closets in her house.

Little did she know, the day had a surprise in store for her!

As she opened her back door to throw her trash away, her dog ran out first, and she slammed the door. As soon as the door went BOOM, she immediately dropped her bags to her feet and grabbed the doorknob.

And in a blink of an eye, the door was locked.

She and Larry found themselves locked out in the cold, and so they stood there, looking at each other, wondering, “What the hell do we do now?”

If you haven’t guessed yet, I am she; she is ME!

After the initial shock, I swooped up Larry and went across the street to my neighbor’s house. When she answered, she immediately said, “Where are your clothes? It’s cold out here!”

Shamefully, I said, “Judy, I locked myself out of my house, and I don’t have my phone on me, so can you please call a locksmith?”

Judy replied with a laugh that sounded like a pack of crazy hyenas. After she gathered herself, she gave me a hug, a coat, and a warm place to stay while I waited for the locksmith.

One and a half hours later, the locksmith showed up and gave me a quote that made me choose to stay outside. However, after a bit of back and forth, he broke into my house for $100.00.

~Side note ~paying someone to break into your house is expensive, so think twice before taking out the trash out!

You could have chosen any blog to read, but you chose mine, and I’m honored!

  1. I laughed at this, but only a little. At least you had clothes on! I got locked out while wearing a bathrobe and flip flops, nothing else! It was summer, so I can be grateful for that, but going to my disapproving German Lutheran neighbor for help was the icing on the cake. Thank you for the chuckle, I was really in need of some humor today!

We’ve been locked out on a number of occasions, and so I’ve learned to just wait it out, cause my husband ALWAYS gets us back in. I don’t know 🤷🏾‍♀️ how he does it, but he goes around back, then somehow shows up ON THE INSIDE…inviting the rest of us in, behind him – like it never happened😂
    He’s funny like that😂

  3. Isn’t that just a situation one does NOT want to be in …

I consider myself privileged NOT to have a front or back door like that, I loathe those from the bottom of my heart. They are the reason why we always keep a key in a code box somewhere on the grounds, although we don’t have any of those locks anymore. And then, of course, one might lose one’s key … (cough, cough)

So, I guess next time you take the trash out, you dress up and take the key along / take a filled lunch box with you. ❤ 🙂

  4. I didn’t even think people could get locked out of their homes anymore the way these locks are now with codes and contraptions and all you have to do to most of them is enter a code or call your camera device and unlock the door that way, etc.

My, oh, my. Be careful, Bella! I’m glad your neighbor was home!

  5. Hahahaha. Sorry, I didn’t mean to laugh. Yeah I did 😂 I locked myself and my parents out of the house once. Luckily my asshole of a brother has a key so eventually after a few hours he got over and let us back in. I’d have rather stayed outside too than have him help after my mistake but I’m lucky it didn’t cost me what it cost you. Ouch! Sounds like you have a wonderful neighbour though! xx

  6. I’m not going to lie to you… I’m kind of giggling over here. 🙂 But thank you for that giggle. I am glad you had somewhere to go and that you were warm and safe. I would totally give an extra key to your neighbor if you trusted them with it. Just a thought.

      1. LOL I would love a neighbor like Judy. She sounds like she can totally be trusted and like a lot of fun. 🙂 Glad you were able to get back in.

        Have a beautiful Sunday. ❤

  7. I have locked myself out 4 times since November… I don’t think it’s that big of a deal anymore now… I have become one without the key loll… And I had come back from school each time, so I had to walk all the way to my grandmother’s home, who lives about 20 minutes away [ phones aren’t allowed in the private schools of Bombay ]… Boy were THOSE leg days…😂
