So few of us do, and we wonder why we don’t feel protected!
As I sit here on Friday, April 26th, 2024, typing out this post, it is my duty to let all my readers know that it’s okay to put you first. It’s not only okay to think highly of yourself, but it’s okay to speak highly of yourself as well.
You are worthy of every bit of praise you offer yourself!
To look after yourself means taking the necessary precautions to protect your peace and uplift yourself. We all have to know who we are, and we owe it to ourselves to take up as much space as we need.
My journey towards self-care truly began when I discovered the power of saying no. It was liberating to prioritize my own needs and desires, even if it meant disappointing others. Some individuals, who were used to my constant availability, reacted negatively. They accused me of being selfish and spreading negativity. But their opinions no longer held power over me, because I had found my voice and my worth.
When you begin to look after yourself, the people who used to take advantage of your kindness and energy start to realize that they no longer have access to you. They may try to make you feel like there is something wrong with you, but in reality, there isn’t.
So continue saying NO as loud as you can and unselfishly continue to take care of yourself.
I’m eager to hear about the ways you’re prioritizing self-care and self-worth this weekend. Whether it’s a new hobby you’re trying, a book you’re reading, or simply taking a long bath, I’d love for you to share your experiences with me.
Thank you for choosing to read my blog. Your decision to spend your time here is truly an honor to me. I hope that our journey towards self-care and self-worth can continue to inspire and support you.

Sometime ago I found it really difficult to say NO to people until I made a similar realization and now I’m beginning to find my self worth and confidence

Such words of wisdom, my dear Belladonna ❤ Just last Saturday, I was trapped in a moving vehicle while a visiting family member made me "feel like there is something wrong with [me]," for saying no to his demands. In realizing that he can no longer "take advantage of [my] kindness and energy," he declared that I'm now dead to him.

Thanks for this post. I had a serious case of letting down my boundaries yesterday and it has left me feeling like crap – physically, emotionally and psychologically. I think a long, hot shower in my near future.

Nice post 😎 With respect to your question, I learned a technique in a class given by my former employer how to say no tactfully and graciously. Just an FYI! https://neptunesky.com/2024/03/25/chaos-technique/
