Please don’t give me advice if it requires me to push things under the rug and bury them for life!
How can anyone evolve if they are constantly sweeping problems under the rug? And if they swept it there, does that mean the bad memories will never surface again?
Frequently, people will say it takes a big person to turn the other cheek and just let situations go. But there is fault in that advice if the problem caused you pain, followed by memories that prevent you from moving on to find peace then turning the other cheek is the worse than you can do. FACE THE ISSUE HEAD ON!
Below are three things that I’ve done to find peace that led me to let go of BAD MEMORIES
1) Stop sweeping~ Choosing to stay silent instead of vocalizing the things that hurt you will only prolong the memories.
2) Be Volunerable~ Playing the tough guy solves nothing if the act is fake. Because you know when you are alone and lost in your thoughts, that memory is silently killing you.
3) Look After Yourself~ Looking after yourself requires self-care and making sure that, against all odds, you’re good. This means you are taking the steps necessary to protect your mental health and peace and bringing as much joy into your life as you can. Resulting in reclaiming your space and ditching the memories that no longer serve you.
Today, I looked after myself by taking the final step to putting my bad memories behind me. Realizing that tomorrow isn’t promised to any of us is motivation enough to live life to the fullest. The one thing that isn’t needed in life is regret. Regretting you wasted so much time on things you can’t change instead of putting energy toward things that can and will affect your tomorrow.
Bad memories will not leave until you open the door and politely kick them in the ass and throw them into the street.
I would love to know what y’all are doing to look after yourself today.

You could have chosen any blog to read, but you chose mine, and I’m honored!

I am looking after myself by doing nothing today, just watching TV and munching on goodies. I don’t do it often but a guiltless nothing day is great at times. 💕

Girl Belladonna, regrets can lead to a slippery slope if you aren’t careful. 😲 Don’t volunteer to give your power to someone or something else. 💪🏼 Keep it, empower yourself with it, and make it work for you! Great post! 😍

My weekend was “chore-driven” but I got some things accomplished as needed. Here’s to a FANtabulous week Queen B! I know you’ll be cooking up a storm as always! 🍜🍤🧁🍷🍗 You go girl, channelling your inner Julia Child, Martha Stewart, Guy Fieri! 👩🏽🍳

Honey chile, I have already finished my collards, turkey, dressing, and gravy. My husband finished the yams and sweet potato pies. We work as a tag team. All I have to do in the morning is make my mac and cheese, open my can of cranberry sauce, make some cornbread, and then I will eat like a termite and come out of my Tryptophan stupor sometime over the weekend! LMAO! 😂😝🤣 Happy Thanksgiving Queen B! 🦃

Good post. I let go of bad memories by writing about them until I write out of steam. Then it’s time to move on.

I totally agree. Bad memories can drag you down if you let them. Like you say, you have to show them the door!
