The one where she lied her way through everything!
Have you ever met someone who lied about small things as well as big things? And they dare to be offended if you don’t believe what they are saying.
I know someone who has lied the entire time I’ve known her. It started small, lying about things you don’t bother fact-checking because who lies about how fast they drive? Who cares, ma’am, if you go 40 in a 45?
Well, other than the people behind you!
Then, you notice their stories become more extensive and extravagant. Which then makes you roll your eyes the whole time they’re talking. And as they are rambling away, you can’t help but wonder if what they are saying is true.
Perhaps most of it is true, but who’s to know which part? After years of practice, they’ve managed to learn how to manipulate others by using tactics to sway you. I have to admit I have fallen for sad stories that turned out to be untrue. And like so many others have done, I chose to give the known liar one more chance. Hoping that the last lie would be just that, THE LAST LIE.
What’s scarier or worse than a liar?
Well, many things are scarier than a liar, but one of the things that’s on the top of the list is a liar who believes their own lie. When they start to believe their own lie, it can become easier for them to manipulate and get others to buy into whatever scheme they are selling or mischievous plot they are cooking up.
The scary part is that the better they become at telling small lies, the more extensive and dangerous the lies soon become.
You could have chosen any blog to read, but you chose mine, and I’m honored!

My answer upon reading just the title was: A liar who actually believes her lies… and you came to the same conclusion. I have no patience for those people. Once I’ve caught you in one or two, I don’t bother wasting my time with you.

You nailed it! That’s one thing I can’t take. Just tell the truth or hush it. LOL

I think what’s worse than a liar is someone who thinks it’s ok to lie because they have done nothing wrong by lying. (Sadly, this is a real person I KNEW. ) They constantly lied to me, like when they were my roommate and I told them not to enter my room (which was locked). Then I saw a photo on their Facebook of something from my room with my room wall as the background. After that, I started to catch more lies, and each time, they would say I was mistaken.

OMG!!!! Not them trying to say you didn’t see what you saw. That is horrible and disgusting. I tell you, when you go to college you meet some very interesting people.

Thanks for sharing this insightful post . It’s disheartening when trust is broken repeatedly by someone who seems to have no regard for the truth.

A good point, Belladonna! I know many such people, but they are caught. A liar should have an amazing memory, which usually they don’t have.

KK, such a great point! Their memory usually fails them miserably.

I distinguish lying from bullshit. To me, if someone lies about their golf score, or something else ordinary to look better, I call that just bullshitting. But, if someone lies to stay out of trouble or to hurt someone, that’s a lie I can’t abide. Own up to your mistakes, and move on. I’ve made many and I’ll likely make many more, but I won’t throw someone under the bus to make myself look better (or LESS guilty). Good piece, Bella.

I had a boss that lied like that. The scary part was that he was in a position of authority.

OMG!!! Makes you wonder who he stepped and lied on to get that position

He was a master manipulator. The walls in our office were paper thin. He played all the secretaries to get info about their bosses. Then, he turned around and used the info he collected against his cronies. He’d take the info they gave him and embellish what they said. People trusted him because he wore a police uniform.

I recently discovered that about a friend. That rolling your eye thing is no joke, I find myself instinctively turning my head and rolling my eyes every time she starts spinning her tall tales 😊.

Yes, liars who believe their lies (who are often narcissists) are definitely worse and more toxic. I know someone like that and try to keep my distance.

I can relate because I’ve dealt with two of such folks. They not only lie, they talked too much and were extremely prideful. Thank God they are history in my life.

Guuurrrrrllllll, we witness this all the time. The type of liars who believe their own lies are narcissists. I remember my father used to say when we were growing up, “A liar is a thief!” I don’t know where he got that from, but while I think about it a liar steels the truth, thus making it a lie. So I supposed my father was right about that! But I too had a so-called friend from years ago who lied her ass off. Of course, I did find out she had a problem with shoplifting, even from the grocery story. Child, that chick is in the wind, and has been a long time ago. She could have stolen from me and I didn’t even know it. Geez! 🐱👤🐱👤🐱👤
