~Look After Yourself Friday~

How did your week go?

Mine was all over the place, but I won’t complain; I made it through, and if you are reading this, you did too, and that’s reason enough to celebrate.

Last night was a roller coaster ride for me, so my podcast will be ready tomorrow instead of today.

So she crept into my room at 3 a.m., and I felt a soft tap on my knee. I remember I was lying on my back and one knee up, which means I was probably snoring like a grizzly bear (my husband is so lucky, right?). In fact, I knew I was snoring because when I woke up, my throat felt raw.

As I opened my eyes, I saw my daughter holding Larry, and they were both staring down at me. I knew right away he needed to go potty outside, so I jumped up, tucked my daughter back in bed, and headed out the back door with Larry.

Long story short, Larry and I stayed on the couch by the back door for the rest of the night. His tiny tummy would not stop making the strangest sounds. And he went potty at least five times in a row.

Larry and I were up from 3 a.m. until about 10:30 a.m., then we curled up in my bed and slept the morning way!

I can’t remember the last time I took a nap, and I don’t know why I don’t put that in my schedule at least once a week. Maybe, starting now, I will.

How I’m looking after myself

I guess I started looking after myself when I took that life-changing nap. Typically I would have just powered through my day while feeling like crap.

Tomorrow is the first soccer of the season, and we can’t wait to see our almost-birthday girl do her thing.

I would love to know what y’all are doing to look after yourself. Please do tell me in the comments.

You could have chosen any blog to read, but you chose mine, and I’m honored!

  1. I took a much-needed mental health day today. I did some reading, praying, watching movies, and did a bit of shopping. I rested, too. I truly rested.

My body needed the rest. My mind and heart needed everything else.

Poor Larry, I hope he feels better soon.

  2. Nice to know things are back to normal! I’ve come to the conclusion that my blog is taking up far more of my time than is good for me, so I’m dropping a couple of weekly prompts.so I can spend more time in the great outdoors! I might consider the occasional nap too!

  3. kind of okay…seem to start my morning’s tired, but for some reason now, I just start flying all around the house doing things that I think need to be done, NOW!….with my wife still working for a few more months (think she’ll retired next spring) and me at home, I don’t mind doing the cooking, cleaning and everything else….I spent Wednesday cleaning out and scrubbing and organizing the fridge….threw stuff out that was a month past the best before date..and did I get a thank you?……nope..I guess I patted myself on the back…some running, biking, and a pub run…so an okay week….now trying to plan a run to the west coast in November, but, flight would be cheap, I can’t find an Air B&B I like, the one I want to use isn’t available…grrrr….now, back to sweeping the kitchen floor…
