Look After Yourself Friday

I don’t usually have a weekly countdown!

But this week “hit differently” and left me exhausted. I don’t know if it was the hit, my birthday, or this new strength workout I’m doing. Now that I think about it may have been a combination of all of the above.

But at this point, it doesn’t even matter! The point is I am exhausted and ready to have a relaxing weekend.

So as I mentioned above, this week, I celebrated my birthday; it seems unreal how life is trucking by at full speed. It seems like just yesterday I turned 40, and boy was I depressed. I had a list of expectations for myself and man; I came up short. I barely touched a thing on that damn list.

So the morning of my 40th birthday, I cried like a two-month-old baby!
I made a video for my eyes only and expressed my sorrow and grief. Turning 40 made me feel old; it reminded me of how unaccomplished I was.

But the truth is being hard on me is something I’m good at. When I say I will do something, it gets done. No excuses; however, as many of you know, we have little control over the unexpected twists and turns life takes us on.

Most of us forget that we only control a few things. I’m one of those people, well I used to be. Now I take everything in stride, do my best to keep my goals close to my hip, and try to hit as many as possible. And if I don’t, NO BIG DEAL!

How I plan on looking after myself today

Today I will kick my feet up, watch a movie with my family, and enjoy many laughs. Then tomorrow they will be asking me out for a big birthday celebration. And damn it, it better be a good one because I am too excited about making it around the sun again. ~Chapter 47~

GOD IS GOOD!

I would LOVE to read how you will look after yourself today.

I hope that y’all have the best weekend and remain safe. Remember to say I love you to everyone that brings light into your life. Hug on them and let them feel your love.

You could have chosen any blog to read, but you chose mine, and I’m honored!

  1. I had a good talk with a friend and scheduled a medical appointment I need to have. I think these were good taking-care-of-me things, I still get a kick out of my birthday. In a hobbit sort of way, I guess. I hope you note and aprpeciate how much you have done in your time so far.

  2. Keep the birthday celebration going Queen B. Remember, only 364 more days to go before you start this process again, this time next year. Go for the gold and chill out like a Polar Bear! Listen honey bunny, you have been granted LIFE! God wasn’t playing a joke on you. He didn’t want you to kill yourself trying to live. Take everything in stride my love! Now, where da party at Bootsie Collins??? 🥳🍾🎉🎁🎈🎆🤩

  4. You look good. I was waiting for this, I know now, I better be doing something I can tell you about on Fridays. I meditated 3 times this week! I had my meds upped and I do not feel like I am drowning. Next week I am going to turn a mediation into a yoga and try to get 2 walks in.

  7. Happy Birthday. I hope you had a great celebration. How I took care of myself today consisted of making the trip to Indianapolis to see the specialist that deals with eye cancer. There was no change in the mole living in the back of my left eyeball. Yeah! Rooster and I went to lunch to celebrate and visited my favorite bookstore.

  8. Absolutely, we have so little control. And you look amazing at your age, like I literally wouldn’t think you were over 30 if you hadn’t said you age!

  9. Hope you enjoyed your birthday to the fullest my beautiful friend!
Today I will look after myself by being kind to me first and then remind my girl to be kind to herself. We need it! Followed by working on my budget/finances so my brain will shut up. I’ve been procrastinating long enough and it niggles at me. Time to give my brain a bit of peace.
