This is what I wanted to say to my daughter!
This morning was a disaster. Let me rephrase that; keeping up with my youngest is a constant disaster. I swear that having her is like having two active kids. She is involved in too much, and the list continues to grow.
Sometimes I sit back and admire her energy, and other times I want to fake my death!
Friday morning craziness
My youngest daughter is my last kiddo in the house. All three of my kids are very active, but this kid is on a new level. I always joke and say she should have been our first kid because we need more energy to keep up with her. But now that I think about it, that’s not a joke; she very much should have been our first.
But here we are, two aging parents with a vivacious 13-year-old. God help us!
On Monday and Wednesday, she has soccer practice; she goes to her classmate’s football games on Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday are Soccer game days. And now she just made it onto the High School feeder basketball team.
Which brings us to this morning’s chaos.
Last night I picked her up at 8:00 pm from basketball practice, and she decided to make my night by telling me, “Oh, mom, I’ve decided to go to basketball practice in the morning.”
Mind you, we already decided it would be in her best interest to rest up for her weekend soccer games.
So I tell her, welp, print out the transportation permission slip form so they can bus you from the High School to your middle school after morning practice.
Do y’all think she did it?
If you said NO, then you are correct.
At 6:20 am, she scrambles to the printer and fusses with it until 6:40. I told her to forget it. I’ll handwrite the note. I proceed to do that and then immediately drive like a bat out of hell ( don’t worry, I’m a safe and great driver). I told her to hand the note to her coach and then run back out to tell me if my little handwritten note would suffice.
We pull up to the school, and she jumps out, forgetting her water bottle.
I picked up the water bottle and decided to meet her halfway. Well, I walked and walked until I was in the gym. Then, I looked up and saw her doing drills with the coach and her teammates.
I stood there for a second in disbelief. Did she really forget to come out to tell me that all was well with my note?
So I waited for her to come a little closer and yelled, “So I guess my note is okay.”
She had the nerve to say, “Yep, everything’s all good.”
I found where she oh so nicely threw her bag of fresh clothes to change into before school, and I reluctantly laid her water bottle next to it.
She may be a straight-A student in all advanced classes and as athletic as they come, but she still needs to get her shit together. But for now, I’ll just chase after her and tie all the loose ends.
To be continued for six more years…Jesus, save me!
You could have chosen any blog to read, but you chose mine, and I’m honored!

“I stood there for a second in disbelief. Did she really forget to come out to tell me that all was well with my note?” I swear to God I’ve had this exact same thought in my head in the past year. It must be the age. They know exactly how to press our buttons. But then they leave home and we miss them. Ha, ha, wonderful post. All the best.

Glad you can relate to this nightmare called parenting 😂

I like how gritty and straight to the point the message is. My mom has 6 kids including myself and I can tell that there’s times where she might want to say the same exact thing. But your perspective while also being a creative makes this informational and humorous. Thanks for sharing!

OMG, just give her a few more years! She’ll walk back any thoughts of the carefree life (especially since she does not have to worry about a mortgage, buying groceries, paying light bills, paying a car note, plus insurance…need I say more?) These youngin’s are something else! 😜😱😝

Girl, she has her dogs that she likes, and most are bigger than her. She typically will feel the need to dominate another small dog, especially a male dog. Lol.

This is one of the things I’m grateful I had both my kids super young–I can’t imagine trying to muster up the energy to keep up with kids’ schedules at this point in my life. It makes me exhausted just reading about it!

Hahah 😂 I know this is so super easy for me to say as I’m not a parent, but it sounds like you’ve got a good kid there. Energetic, involved, engaged. She’ll get her shit together before you know it and you’ll look back at all of this exhaustion and laugh (one day, but not yet!) In the mean time, good luck!! 😉 I know you guys got this.

You aren’t alone. I was one of those kids “Oh, mom, I’ve decided to go to basketball practice in the morning.” Let me tell you, my mom was ready every single morning, driving me with a happy heart to my biggest passion in life. I ended up becoming a professional basketball player, you never know what you child has in mind, perhaps she has big dreams like me regarding sports, ask her and try to help her reach it. That’s what my mom did, and driving me to practice was the biggest help she could be every single day, rushing to and from work to make it work for me and my passions. So, what I want to share with you is that you moms are amazing!!! keep doing you, even when you feel like you want to “fake your won death” lol. You rock!!

You made tears stream down….. Damn it!!! I needed this, thank you for sharing this with me because a girl is tired!!! But she does have big dreams to be a part of the WNBA. She is always practicing and just made it on two competitive basketball teams. So yes you are right, I will continue to drive and smile and support my girl. I’ll sleep later 😂
