Chapter 22

Today is the day that God smiled down on the earth and gave us this beautiful present!

God knew what this world needed: a little bit of you.

When I had my son 22 years ago, we were on cloud 9, we knew that someone special was created, and damn it, we were right. Watching this kid grow has been a pleasure, and I am so thankful that you have made it to 22 trips around the sun. 

I pray that you see at least 80 more!

When this amazing kid came into my life, he was so quiet, just taking in everything at the hospital and looking up at me with those big, curious brown eyes. To this day, he still gazes at me with that same intensity—those eyes that seem to see straight through me and know exactly how to tug at his momma’s heartstrings. He’s always known how to turn those looks into getting anything he wants or needs from me.

I will always be by his side and swear that whatever he did, “he didn’t do it! You know the type of mom that says I know my baby did not do that, he wouldn’t hurt a soul and deep down inside, I know good and damn well he did it.

But in all seriousness, my goal is for him to grow into the kind of man his father is—devoted, loving, and the rock we all lean on. E2 has no excuses; he’s got the perfect example and I expect nothing less than for him to become an outstanding father and husband, too.

We wish you a happy birthday and encourage you to keep striving for everything—even the things that may seem impossible to achieve. Remember, through God all things are possible. You are meant to be here and destined to do great things!
