There’s an irresistible allure to the soulful wail of a trumpet, the passionate keystrokes of a pianist, the controlled chaos of a skilled drummer, and the gentle hum of a double bass. When you blend these sounds and add the enchanting glow of dim, golden lights, the heady aroma of a full-bodied red wine, and the presence of a dashing companion, the world is transformed into a realm of enchantment.
As I looked across the room, I saw everyone in a trance, their senses captivated by the delicate sounds. The soft glow of candlelight at each intimate table added to the enchantment, and love seemed to fill every corner of this cozy, quaint room.
And then, just like that, she disrupted the serene atmosphere, attempting to blind all of us with her ring light!
What was once a scene of romance and serenity suddenly felt like a police interrogation.
There she sat right beside the stage, the “pick me” desperate for attention, with what seemed to be her boyfriend by her side. She pulls out a ring light, attaches it to her phone, and blinds the whole room as she makes duck lips and what I like to call ‘Marilyn Monroe’ poses.
If you are blessed enough not to know what a ring light is or what it’s used for, let me enlighten you and offer you my apologies in advance.
Ring Light~ What is a ring light?
A ring light is a circular light that fits around a camera’s lens or is large enough to shoot through it. It provides illumination with little shadow because the light source is very close to the lens’s optical axis. It is commonly described as the glamour or beauty light.
The ring light’s primary purpose is to illuminate the subject evenly. This reduces facial shadows, minimizes blemishes, and illuminates the eyes. This is why ring lights are commonly used in portraits, glamour shots, and even videography that captures only one subject.
Common uses for ring lights
- Portraits — minimizes wrinkles and blemishes
- YouTube — reduces shadow, evenly lights face
- Glamour shots — even light works well with makeup

After reading that, one would assume this attachment should not be used in a dark room amongst others who are trying to relax and enjoy the moment.
Since common sense isn’t common, she blinded us three times and showed absolute disrespect to the performers who were trying to give us magic. By her third attempt, the establishment’s owner rushed over and told her to put that away immediately.
My husband and I wanted to clap, but I ended up locking eyes with another lady. We silently agreed that she was an egg head idiot, and we all went back into our zone, enjoying the show. However, she sat, looking well, like an embarrassed egghead.

You could have chosen any blog to read, but you chose mine, and I’m honored!

I was wondering how long it was going to take before a member of management rushed over to defuse the situation. LOL! Like, ma’am, what are you doing?! I’d be way too embarrassed to ever do something like that. And I can’t stand those ring lights! 😆😂🤣

I think they are for personal use and not to blind everyone around you! Some folks are just so darn rude

Sad. I was at a karaoke contest and the one contestant was a trip. She didn’t win and made a stink. Afterwards, she rushed up to the emcee. There was an exasperated exchange, then: “Marilyn Goldwyn has requested an encore performance. She’ll be singing “My Heart Will Go On. But we don’t have that, so she’ll be singing it a cappella.” Unbelievable. She’s up there with no music, voice wavering in and out of key, butchering a classic as people slowly drifted away… 🤔🫤😂

Omg, just experienced that during a live show last night with several attendees using that blinding spotlight throughout the crowd which was a dark scene. Yes, its super distracting and rude. Luckily security was on their job and removing those culprits from the arena. Good read, thanks for sharing 👍🏽

There’s a time and place for ring lights – that was clearly neither of them!
Love the first couple of paragraphs, by the way.
