Oh, move to the suburbs, they say, it will be great for your family, they say!
Well, listen here, suburbs are where angry control freaks go to die and
if you live in a subdivision with an HOA, then you will understand my frustration.
Just yesterday, I had a fence put up in my backyard. Not because I’m anti-social, but because those darn deer keep munching on my veggies and watermelons. They’re such majestic creatures, but if they take one more bite, I might just have to turn into a midnight hunter.
Steps I took
After speaking with a member of the HOA, I learned that if I plan to install a fence in my backyard, I don’t need to fill out any forms. I can just get it installed and go about my way.
So, I had the land surveyed, called out the contractors to mark where the fence would go, and a few weeks later, they came out and put up my fence. However, during the process of installing the wall, my neighbor, who is disliked by many, took it upon himself to call out a property management company and report the incident.
I received a call from crusty Miss Know-It-All Jennifer, and here’s how the call went.
Jennifer: Hi, this is Jennifer from your property management company. I’m calling to inform you that a neighbor has reported a fence that you are installing without permission.
Me: Yes, I’m installing a fence as we speak, and yes, I have permission from our board. But the big question here is, who the hell called you to tell on me?
Jennifer: One of your neighbors who lives close to you
I knew exactly who this was. So after a quick little “I’ll drop kick you where you stand” note to my HOA chat group, the truth was revealed!
The MOLE
All my neighbors rallied together, outing the mole as the little wizzle and his wizzle wife who live behind me. In our shared frustration, we found unity.
Write about an act of kindness you’ve done for someone
Which brings me to my act of kindness! Despite the steam coming out of my ears, I graciously spared them from an ass-whooping. And that was my best attempt at kindness that I could give towards those backstabbers who smile in my face!
You could have chosen any blog to read, but you chose mine, and I’m honored!

BAYBAY!!! Minding one’s own business is free. How are people out here being tattletales about fences going up that aren’t even theirs?! Too much time on their hands! Lol.

Neighbours … We only owned a house once, and I made sure it was in a HOA-free area. The legal rules are enough, we don’t need rules on top of those.
