This past weekend I made an apple pie with a homemade crust, and now I’m sharing the recipe with my favorite people!
Items needed for apple pie
- 3 pounds of apples
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1 stick of butter
- 1/2 tsp cornstarch
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 cups sparkling cider
Items needed for pie crust
- 2 sticks of COLD butter
- 1/2 COLD water
- 2 1/2 cups flour
Time to have some fun in the kitchen!
- Peel the apples, and slice them thinly
- place butter in the hot pan (on medium heat)
- Add sliced apples
- Slowly add in cider (stir), then add white and brown sugar, salt, cornstarch, and vanilla extract (low heat)
Cook for 5-10 minutes. Remove from heat while making the crust!
- Slice butter into cubes and toss in the mixer
- Add flour until the mix is crumbly
- Slowly pour in water
- Knead and place in a buttered pie pan
- Cook on 425 degrees convection for 15 minutes
Put it all together
- Add pie filling to crust
- Add crust on top and cover the pie with foil
- Cook for 40 minutes
- Remove foil and brush butter on top of the crust
- Bake in the oven until the crust is golden brown (at least 10 minutes)
Let your pie cool; I’ll usually make it the day before I want to serve it or first thing in the morning, so it has all day to cool. If you cut it before it cools, the pie filling will spill out, and your slices won’t look pretty.
I mean, it’s all about appearance, right? Well, it is for me because I like my food to look pretty when it’s plated!
Now top this dessert off with vanilla bean ice cream or drizzle caramel on top OR BOTH!
Let me know if you try the recipe, and enjoy the video below!
You could have chosen any blog to read, but you chose mine, and I’m honored!

This recipe sounds so yummy. I won’t try it before winter, as my husband and I are off sugar for the moment (because of his health). But, when winter comes, or autumn … 😉 , I think we can do it once at least … or twice?
