If he is, Listen up, big guy!
Dear Santa,
Gifts are good, but a little peace and quiet is where it’s at. Here me out, Santa, I love my family, Lord knows I do, but when you are in the middle of raising kids, all you can think about is having one day of nothing.
No cooking
No cleaning
No laundry
No grocery shopping
No hearing your name being called all day, every day
No arguing over the dumbest things
No T.V. turned up loud enough for the entire neighborhood to hear
No noise
No laundry
I know, I know one day, everyone will be gone and have their own families, and I’ll look back at these days with sadness because they’re over.
I know I will, but today, a sista is tired and in need of a stiff drink, a quiet house, and some alone time.
Merry Christmas!
~Love Belladonna~
Unfortunately, the big guy isn’t real so this letter will fall on deaf ears. But a girl can pretend, right?
It feels good to believe in something that you know isn’t real; it may be the magic of it all that gets you really excited. Believing in Santa was just that for me when I was younger. Christmas time was magical. The thought of a chubby man with a beard tiptoeing around my house to leave me precisely what I wanted was EXCITING!
So you can imagine how pissed off I was when I found out that my mother was Santa. All the magic slipped away for a few years, well, that is, until I realized the true meaning of Christmas.
After my heartache wore off about Santa, I swore that I would never fool my kids and let them believe in something that wasn’t real. But After I had my first daughter, I remembered the magical feeling.
Yes, it hurt when I found out the truth about Santa, but some of my best childhood memories involved Santa.
And I wanted my kids to feel that same magic!
Did you and your kids believe in Santa?
You could have chosen any blog to read, but you chose mine, and I’m honored!
~Belladonna~

Oddly enough, I still kinda believe in Santa magic, but not Santa Claus. I hope that makes sense. 🙏🏾💙

We don’t have such illusions in our culture. Not even tooth fairy. The kids inform us that they lost a tooth and can they have some cash! 🤣😂

Christmas wasn’t a thing in our house growing up. We definitely believe in Jesus and His birth but we knew it wasn’t in Dec, we knew Santa wasn’t real, we didn’t put up Christmas tree or did the gift giving guised under Christmas. My childhood was real, no fairytales about anything. I put up a tree and decorations now only because I have a passion for interior decor nothing Christmas about it.

Thanks for sharing that. One of my best friends grew up the same way and she has know plans on changing. I totally respect that.

I feel your pain – all you want is the peace and not the gifts, the family love and warmth with none of the crap.
I hope you get that 🙂

I went ahead and let my kids believe in Santa. A little fantasy is good for them I think.

We didn’t do the Santa thing because we didn’t want to lie to them. They still had presents under the tree, We even went to the mall and they sat on the jolly guys lap. We told them there was a real Santa Clause who lived a long time ago. Kids got presents at Christmas to honor the tradition and because of baby Jesus. They worked it the same way with their kids.

That makes sense to me! Plus you still kept the real meaning upfront and that’s the main thing most of us forget to do. Good on ya’ll for that.

What do you mean he’s not real? 🎅 lolol
I believed in Santa but when I was about 7, my older sister broke the news to me. I was pretty pissed off, too. lol
My kids believed in Santa, and they were in their teens and we were all still pretending. They didn’t want to spoil my Christmas by telling me they knew the truth. LOL

LOLOLOLOL That’s exactly what my kids did to us. They loved the magic of Santa and thought they would hurt my feelings but I was so tired of putting things out late at night.
I need my full nights rest damn it! LOL

What’s the harm in believing, if it gives joy to innocent kids! When they grow, they also realise what is real and what is not. I used to become Santa for my kids, but not now. I think they will also do the same for their kids.

I absolutely agree, Christmas was magical during childhood. Completely relate to needing some peace and quiet with the kids home from college.💕🤣🤣🤣💕

Your “No” list made me laugh. In a perfect world, adult kids would do all of those things when they visit… the cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc. LOL The Santa story adds to the magic of Christmas, for kids of all ages. 🎅

The adult kids are worse than my middle schooler and my daughter said I can’t wait to get home so I can take over the kitchen. She made one meal and has zero plans of cooking for us again. LOL
Santa adds so much magic!

I sure did, and for lots of years. My girls did too. I told them if they stopped believing in Santa, he wouldn’t leave any gifts. So I’m sure they kept on pretending to for a few more years. I was just as excited to see them get up and see the gifts, too. 🙂

I said the same things to my kids so I know, like yours they pretended for many years. LOL

Hey, if everyone continues to pretend there’s a Santa, and I get extra presents, that’s a win for me, and as a kid, I was happy to get more presents from anyone.

Yes, the same happened with me. I would keep awake late into the night to.meet Santa. It was magical. But even when I came to know the real Santa was my father still the magic remained.
