In life, we have choices, and it’s up to you to go with what makes sense to you and ONLY YOU!
How many times have you made a decision based on someone else’s opinion? And then you look back at that decision and wonder, “What in the hell made me make that choice”?
It’s so good to have someone in your corner that you trust and can count on for support, and it’s a bonus if they give great advice. However, it’s so valuable for your self-growth to learn to depend on yourself when it comes down to making your final decisions in any situation. You have to go with your GUT!
No one knows what’s best for you better than yourself!
You are the only one that HAS to live with the decisions you make. Some of the worst decisions that I ever made were due to listening to someone who had no skin in the game. Meaning the outcome of such decision wouldn’t and didn’t have an impact on their life. But I was left thinking about the decision years and years later.
Listening to your GUT will prevent you from living with regret.
Things that prevent you from listening to our GUT
- Self Doubt
- Not enough information
- Confusion
- Too many opinionated busybodies in your life
- Too many negative opinionated busybodies in your life
- Too many negative opinionated busybodies that hate to be wrong
Learn to pull back and stand on your word, your opinion, your educated decision, and most importantly, your GUT.
Sit in silence and reflect on what you should do before you open up the lines of communication to others. Allowing yourself time to reflect inward will give you most of the answers you are looking for.
Trust your GUT a little bit more!

I guess it comes to believing in yourself…but to also be picky about who you listen to…..but, this may sound rude, sometimes my gut has shit for brains?

Ain’t that the truth. It’s so easy to make the wrong choices when we ignore what we know in our gut to be the right one but doubt ourselves enough to listen to someone else.

Yes that’s exactly it! We doubt ourselves and then look for others that we can listen to. Uggghhhh, so guilty of this in the past.

Same. With maturity comes a ‘fuck it’ attitude that serves me rather well 😉

This is the very reason they put things next to the counters at grocery stores, its just for compulsive buying so that its not a gut deal saying you need it but a want cause you saw it.

We have to believe in ourselves since no one knows us better than ourselves. Sometimes there are too many people telling us what’s best for us or giving us advice and it’s not necessarily the best advice for us.

Yes Vanya, so true! Lack of belief in ourselves will have us depending on others advice.

Yes. When I was a kid, I used to listen to other people a lot because I thought they were older and smarter than me. But it also meant not being happy with myself because I was trying to be someone I wasn’t.

I agree with the sentiment of the article. It is important to be able to make your own decisions in life, and to not let others influence you too much. Listening to your gut can be a valuable tool in making decisions, as it can help you to avoid making choices that you will regret later on.

Right on. Solid advice. Gut won’t steer you wrong unless you haven’t developed the muscles enough to know when know gut is speaking.
