REPOST
I try to have my daily slice around noon!
Most days, I don’t need a slice of that humble pie, but I have it anyway, especially when my girls are around. You see, when you have daughters, you will have a huge slice, rather you want it or not. Daughters have a way of keeping you level-headed.
Let me dive into the story
Picture it October 7th, 2022
It was 4:25 am, and I had only 4 hours of sleep in a hotel room with a semi-decent bed. That night before was a travel day, and my plane didn’t land until almost 10 pm. I knew I had to shower, lay my clothes out for the following day and get to bed. My uber would be pulling up right at 5 am. So I needed to get settled for the night as soon as possible.
But, getting settled quickly in a hotel is a no go for me. It took me a little bit to get settled and used to a bed that was not mine. Y’all know I just bought a new mattress…yes it may have folded me up like a taco, but we’re on a soundtrack now (here’s that post if you haven’t read it and need to laugh at my foolishness Things that go bump in the night).
Okay, so here I am with one eye open, and the other eye is wondering why my damn alarm clock is going off.
Unfortunately, I looked in the mirror and screamed; my first thought was only Jesus himself could come down here and make me look human.
But I’ll try my best and see what I can do in 20 minutes.
I wash my face, brush my teeth and whip out my handy dandy makeup brushes. I put on a little extra mascara to look as awake as possible. This makeup had to last me all day and make it through the wind hitting my face.
And just like that, it was 4:58 am, and we needed to head downstairs to meet our uber driver.
Dare I say, I felt pretty good and thought okay, girl, you did that. That is until the next morning. Then, as I applied my makeup for the day, my oldest daughter said, “Hey, mom, go easy on the blush today because yesterday it was a bit much, and it didn’t compliment your skin tone.”
My husband jumped in and said, “I thought you looked beautiful; your makeup was just right.”
I love and appreciate his kindness, but he knows nothing about makeup.
I immediately flipped through the pictures on my phone from yesterday. And there I was, just smiling away, looking like homie the clown.
And after that, I ate my humble pie and quickly put away my clown brushes for the remainder of my trip!
You could have chosen any blog to read, but you chose mine, and I’m honored!

Where were you off to? If it is just the grocery story, I don’t wear any make up except lipstick but for outings to places, depending on the area and my feelings, I wear a little make up.

We were out of town for the weekend and that particular day had an extremely early start so I wanted to cover up some questionable areas on my face.LOL

I love the fact that she is comfortable enough to keep it real with you, my daughter is the same way and I am like that with her too. She’s looking out for her mom, I appreciate that. My only rule is that she has to tell me as soon as she notices and not after so that the issue can be rectified if I feel it needs to be. Daughters do make us humble but to be honest sons can too. One of my boys is so blunt I am usually taken back by his honesty.🤣. Thanks for sharing.💕

LOLOLOL Grace why are they like this?!!!
But you are right I’m the same with my kids and I tell them right then and there. I asked her why she waited and she said well it didn’t look that bad for me to say anything but just don’t do it again.LOL
You are so right boys are just as bad. What would we do without all their honesty?

If we don’t look out for each other, who will?🤣🤣🤣 Absolutely, honesty is everything as long as the delivery is a bit gentle, that’s what my boy needs to lean.💕🤣🤣🤣💕

I love that she can be honest with you, but um … I would HAVE NEVER told my mom, that. LOL. The way my mom was set up back in the day–I rather like my teeth. LOL!

🤣🤣 I totally get it! My mom was the same way as yours.
We will clown on each other in this house and have a good laugh.

Wow! That sounds like an inappropriate comment from a confused teenage girl… that’s not humble pie, that’s body negativity.
Tell her from me that she’s as beautiful as a tree. When you see a tree you don’t say “Ew that tree’s leaves are too green” or “Ew that tree’s bark is too rough” or “Yuck, That tree’s too old” “Or that tree’s too wide in the middle and it’s got bumpy bits”.
No!
You just say: What an amazing beautiful tree that God made, and I respect you as you are, tree. However you look, you are beautiful, because you are perfectly and completely yourself.
The beauty is in the you-ness of you.
Same for people. However much mascara we wear.

Appreciate your comment but it isn’t that serious! Body negativity? Really?? Chill out.
Doesn’t matter what you think and choose your words before you call my daughter any names. Don’t play with me.
Humble yourself away from my blog and don’t come back!

Hi Belladonna,
Yeah, I can be a bit arogant at times. Sorry about that. I wish you every success in your life, and hope your daughter learns to love her body and yours.
I have unfollowed your blog as you have requested.
Best regards, Gill.

And another thing you don’t have to have the last word when leaving, especially if you didn’t read my post correctly. She or I never said a word about anyone body. Don’t comment, stay away.

Don’t they though!!! They are our voice of reason even if we didn’t ask them their opinion 😁

We taught them to use their voice and speak their truth. It’s our fault. 😂
