Who’s Alex?

First of all, you’re late to the conversation, and if you don’t know who he is, then the question wasn’t directed towards you!

That’s what I wanted to type when I read the message that read, “Who’s Alex.” But I held it together and wrote…

Well, let me tell you how it began.

Storytime

I live in a rather large community, and we all know each other pretty well. There are a few that I wish I didn’t know. But what are you going to do, am I right?

The ones I wish I didn’t know are nosey, intrusive, and paranoid. They think every strange man (to them) is a possible intruder, and if they don’t recognize a new car that has dared to enter our subdivision, then they are ready to call the police.

I’m not exaggerating in the least!

We moved to this particular neighborhood because the school system is phenomenal, and we all know what that means. Yes, you guessed it, this community is flooded with kiddos.

My kids’ best friends lived in our neighborhood, and they always hung out with them after school, in the summer, and anytime they could. And when we wanted our kids to come home, we would use the community chat to write; PLEASE SEND (INSERT NAME) HOME PLEASE!

Which brings me to the current event.

On Tuesday evening, the beautiful sunshine drew all the kiddos outside. They were having a blast, running around and laughing. Their laughter reminded me that summer was almost here.

So when the fun was just about over, my neighbor wrote in our community chat, “Hey neighbors if you have Alex at your home can u please tell him to go home”.

Then, a day later, when all the kids were in school, one of the annoying neighbors wrote, “Who’s Alex”?

If you don’t know, then the message wasn’t for you!

You could have chosen any blog to read, but you chose mine, and I’m honored!

  1. this is the world we live in now….but, it may have been an innocent question. that’s the problem with on-line, things get said that may be not taken the way they were meant.

  2. I love your storytelling style! Your descriptions really bring the neighborhood to life. It’s funny how some people just can’t resist poking their noses into other people’s business, isn’t it? Your reaction to the nosy neighbor’s question is spot on.
