Oh, the new things that I learn every day. It seems like every day the rules change about bananas, apples, chocolate, and the list can go on and on. I’m sick of it! I remember a time that eating bananas were said to be suitable for the digestive system and a great source of potassium. ￼In 2002 I was on the road to regaining my pre-baby body back, and I worked out like a mad woman as well as having a strict diet. Bananas were my go-to source for muscle recovery and helped me stay full for a lengthy amount of time during and after my workout. I was able to go from 175 pounds to 155 and I felt amazing. No muscle cramping, no headaches, my energy level was high and I felt amazing internally as well as externally.
I remember how excited I was when I read that 1 banana is sufficient enough to sustain a 90-minute workout. Because before I learned that I was eating an apple and that did nothing for me. I would feel light headed halfway through my workout and feel like quitting. Let’s face it what are we accomplishing if we are too weak and hungry to complete a workout. Nutrition is everything and without it working out is a waste of time.
Now lets fast forward to 2019. I have read an endless amount of articles stating that bananas are a leading factor in causing belly fat, and they are 25% sugar. They should never be eaten alone but coupled with bacon or oatmeal and black coffee. So here I am thinking I do not have time for all that. I personally need something quick and easy to get me out the door in a timely manner. I workout first thing in the morning so that I can get home, shower and start writing and visiting my clients. I NEED A QUICK ROUTINE and these articles are ruining my life!!!!
So I decided to shut out all the noise and do what works best for my body and that’s eating bananas twice a day. Either I blend them in smoothies or eat’em as I’m walking out the door. I’m doing what works for me and eating everything in moderation without rules and I couldn’t be happier.
