Mothers You Get The “Day Off”

Repost of an oldie but goodie….well maybe the right word to describe this post is….TRUTHFUL!

Rest up because on Monday, you get to do double duty.

Before I go into my spill, I want to wish all the mothers out there a Happy Mother’s Day! I hope you all were spoiled and showered with love because we all DESERVE it. Yes, I said deserve!

Yesterday was a great day. It’s always good to be celebrated for doing a phenomenal job. I took full advantage of my day by going on a walk with my oldest and then coming home to finish the 3rd week of my Peloton cycling challenge, which was a banger! I had to complete a 75 min power ride. And I’m proud to say that I rode 17.71 miles and burned 490 calories.

I felt so accomplished and proud of myself. But when I jumped off the bike, my knees quickly reminded me that I was a 44-year-old mom and not the 34-year-old mom that I mentally pretend to be. I limped up my stairs and fell into my bath water, which was flooded with Epson salt.

Now I could go on about the restaurant we went to gifts I received, but I won’t. I need to jump right into this alleged “day off” that mothers get.

Okay, some may get the day off, but you better believe that when the sun rises tomorrow, you are going to have to make up for your “day off.”

I woke up this morning and thought to myself, How many outfits did everyone wear on Sunday?

How did the inside of my refrigerator get this dirty and unorganized?

Where did these black spots come from that are on my back door?

Who ate all the bananas and oranges and drank all the milk?

Once again, I could go on and on, but I won’t. I think everyone gets my point.

So here I am today with a bed full of clean clothes ready to be folded and put away. My refrigerator is back clean and fully stocked. Black stains on the door are spot-free, and so is the rest of my house. And now, 4 hours later, I’m ready to start my day.

Yaayyyy, for Mother’s Day!

You could have chosen any blog to read, but you chose mine, and I’m honored!

  4. yeo mother’s day. yes, my mom, and to my wife…but there’s a story up here that’s making my head explode. a teacher with a child in her class without a mom. so for this year she decided to make tis child feel included, said, let’s have a family day instead…..sent notes to parents explaining why, and people lost their mind….including death treats and just anger…..how does a good thing create so much hatred…..the teacher wasn’t cancelling Mother’s day, but well….

    1. WHAT?????? I applaud that teeacher for doing something so sweet. And who cares if you aren’t acknowledge individual at your kids school. If you areee doing what you are supposed to be doing as a mom, you’rre too tired to give a damn!
