Summer Body? 7 Dangers of Rapid Weight Loss

I am tired of everybody busting their hump to get a “Summer Body”!

You can not sit on your behind for seven to eight whole months and then damn near kill yourself to get summer ready. Waiting to get your body the way you want it quickly, will put you inn danger.

You are probably thinking, how will that put me in danger?

Well, pleasekeep reading so it becomes clear.

7 Dangers Of Losing Weight Quickly

When your only goal is losing weight quickly, I guarantee you are not losing it correctly. You become focused on fitting into your summer wardrobe and looking at the scale. And you are making a conscious choice to avoid what your body needs.

If you pay attention and listen to your body, it will send out signals as to what you are lacking. You will then crave those things. However, ignoring the signals can cause many external as well as internal complications.

While trying to avoid foods that will slow down weight loss, you can experience these five terrible side effects;

  1. Hair loss
  2. Low energy
  3. Feeling Faint and Fatigue
  4. Constipation/Bloating
  5. Memory loss or not being able to focus
  6. Weight will come back FAST
  7. Unhealthy relationship with food

These are just a few of 100’s of long-term effects that can happen if you take shortcuts to lose weight.

I make it a point to tell my clients that they didn’t gain the weight overnight and WILL NOT lose it overnight. If you take your time and focus on feeling good/healthy, you will have a better success rate of keeping the weight off.

Take up Space

I wrote a post a few weeks ago about taking up space. Being tiny doesn’t mean you’re fit. It simply means you are then NOT healthy. We have to stop confusing what healthy/fit looks like.

It looks different on everyone!

So the next time you start your fitness journey, lift heavy shit, eat, sleep, and repeat!

Get BIG

Get FIT

Get STRONG

Get HEALTHY

TAKE UP SPACE

You could have chosen any blog to read, but you chose mine, and I’m honored!

Below is a video I made today just making fun of the whole “GET SUMMER READY” vibe that’s going on.

  1. YES!…the scary thing is how many elite yong atheletes are forced into losing weight to look a certain way just to attract sponsors. And then suffer through and develop horrific injuries…I think we focus too much on weight loss and look, healthy, sure fit….the reason I love doing what I do (run) and looking around at the people I run with…all shapes and sizes, and ages

    1. Great point Warren! They sure do have to lose weight and stay in shape no matter the long term side effects. It sucks that it has to be like that.

    1. Absolutley!!!!!! Great point. I remember hating the new body I was in and then my best friend told me to look at the beautiful baby I just created and give myself grace. Losing weight should be the last thing on your mind, sleep is a new moms goal! LOL

  2. Wow! Great advise and post as always dear Belladonna.
Loose weight is not “Abra Cadabra”, just like magic is not possible…
Thank’s for share. Have a lovely evening!

  3. I’m one of those tiny people and my fitness goals aren’t to lose weight or be skinny.. I’m trying to bulk up and oh my goodness is it hard 😆 however, I definitely look like one of those “oh my goodness she’s so skinny she must not eat and overly workout.” It’s a struggle girl 😂 I agree with you so much when you said being tiny doesn’t mean you’re healthy!! It’s so very true!

    1. Enjoy the process and eat all the good foods you like. Lift heavy and go for fewer reps. I’m so excited for you an dwish you the best luck on your journey.
I have no idea what it’s like to not beable to put on weight. I can breathe air and gain 5 pounds. LOLOLOL

  4. I so appreciate your signature blend of encouragement, information, and humor. 🙌🏻 “Getting fit” isn’t a fad, it’s a lifestyle. 💪🏽

      1. You are welcome! It must be something that makes life more fun. I’ve been thinking about doing a blog challenge that has to do with feeling strong. If I go forward with it tomorrow, I hope you will join me. 😊

      2. Thank you! I had a different writing vibe this morning. I may revisit my “strong” thoughts for this Saturday. It won’t be the same without you!

      3. Yay! Of course! I hope you feel that way after you read more. 😆 I think it will be a positive experience. 😊 Thank you.

  5. I so agree with all of this! I’m a big girl, 5’9, healthy weight (for my age), but I’ve always felt bad about my size. They teach girls to be small, quiet, don’t take up too much space. It’s bullshit. I know so many people my age starving themselves to lose weight! You have to eat healthy or it comes right back! Keep putting out the right information Belladonna! You look fabulous by the way! Hugs, C

    1. You’re my dream height!!!! My daughter is 5’9 and I have a feeling my youngest will be about the same. I played basketball when I was younger and wanted to b e a few more inches.
I love when women get it, we need to take up space and stop feeling bad for doing so. Our bodies are supposed to strong, we need food to get there. I have a few friends that refuse to eat much and it drives me crazy!!!!!
Thank you so much Cheryl, I needed that encouragement.Hugs to you!

  6. You are absolutely right, Belladonna. Weight loss does not happens overnight. It takes time, patience, and consistency to stay fit.

  7. Hi Belladonna,

I couldn’t agree with you more! The idea of killing yourself to get a “summer body” is not only dangerous but also unrealistic. Your post on the 7 dangers of losing weight quickly is so important for people to understand, and I appreciate you shedding light on this topic.

I also love your message about taking up space and the importance of focusing on feeling good and healthy rather than just fitting into a certain mold. Your encouragement to lift heavy, get fit, strong, and healthy is exactly what people need to hear.

Your blog page is a great resource for those looking to prioritize their health and fitness in a sustainable way. I would love to support your blog and encourage others to check it out as well. Keep up the great work!

    Best,
    Noe P.

    1. Oh wow thank you so much, I appreciate your support! Getting fit can be a fun process, we just have to change our view of such!
Welcome to my blog and I hope you come back!

  8. Yes ma’am, I agree 💯%. This is a lifestyle commitment. This is one reason why I have a concern with folks who have gastro-bypass surgery and say they lost 80 pounds. Next, you see them blow back up like a Macy’s Day Parade balloon with more pounds than they “allegedly” lost. Those pounds are somewhere in a waste container at the surgeon’s office smarty pants! 😝

    1. LOLOLOL You are a mess! Losing weight that fast is scary. I’m hooked on watching 600 pound life and when they lose weight it is at an extreme speed. And then just like you said, eventually the weight creeps back on.

  9. It’s important for people to recognize that being healthy and fit is a lifestyle. It has taking me years to recognize that I have to consistent with my workouts, and planning my nutrition. I always lost the quickly but never kept it off. Now that I’m taking my time with the advice of personal trainer I lost 19 pounds and have kept it off. This is a great post to encourage good health habits !!!!

    1. Congratulations to you Angelica!!! What an amazing journey for you. Isn’t it so nice when you take control back and let go of trying to lose weight quick??!
      Thank you for sharing 💖💖💖
