Good Bye’s Are Hard

I’m grateful I have a sweet son that makes saying goodbye hard!

I had the most fantastic weekend with my college kiddos. And though it was difficult dropping my daughter off at her dorm, it was heartbreaking to see my son’s plane fly away. Knowing I can’t jump in my car and quickly get to him is nerve-racking.

I’m trying my damnedest not to be too down today, but I’m failing miserably!

A week ago, my son called me and told me that he was able to come home for Labor day weekend. I think I fell to my knees and cried like a baby when he said, “mom, I really miss you.”

I dropped everything and bought his plane ticket before he could take another breath. I am not joking. I yelled, “I got it, and I’m sending you the confirmation right now .“We both began to laugh until we cried.. okay maybe I’m the only one that cried, but that’s beside the point. Just know there were tears involved.

Before we hung up the phone, he had given me a couple of suggestions for dinner. His list was precise and lengthy. But the main things he requested were Mac and cheese, apple cobbler, french toast, protein shakes, chicken, tacos, and anything else I had in mind.

You would think this kid would be home for a week and not a weekend. But somehow, I managed to get in a lot of his favorites. Every time he blinked, I had another course waiting for him.

He gained 5 pounds this weekend!

I watched him as he packed on every pound. Then, as he ate, he kept saying, “Now this is what I like to see.”

Me too, son… Me too.

You could have chosen any blog to read, but you chose mine, and I’m honored!
