I’m grateful I have a sweet son that makes saying goodbye hard!
I had the most fantastic weekend with my college kiddos. And though it was difficult dropping my daughter off at her dorm, it was heartbreaking to see my son’s plane fly away. Knowing I can’t jump in my car and quickly get to him is nerve-racking.
I’m trying my damnedest not to be too down today, but I’m failing miserably!
A week ago, my son called me and told me that he was able to come home for Labor day weekend. I think I fell to my knees and cried like a baby when he said, “mom, I really miss you.”
I dropped everything and bought his plane ticket before he could take another breath. I am not joking. I yelled, “I got it, and I’m sending you the confirmation right now .“We both began to laugh until we cried.. okay maybe I’m the only one that cried, but that’s beside the point. Just know there were tears involved.
Before we hung up the phone, he had given me a couple of suggestions for dinner. His list was precise and lengthy. But the main things he requested were Mac and cheese, apple cobbler, french toast, protein shakes, chicken, tacos, and anything else I had in mind.
You would think this kid would be home for a week and not a weekend. But somehow, I managed to get in a lot of his favorites. Every time he blinked, I had another course waiting for him.
He gained 5 pounds this weekend!
I watched him as he packed on every pound. Then, as he ate, he kept saying, “Now this is what I like to see.”
Me too, son… Me too.
You could have chosen any blog to read, but you chose mine, and I’m honored!

Oh, my heart is aching for you Belladonna. I so get this. I don’t think my kids understand how much I miss them when they’re gone. I’m like a love sick puppy. I can’t sit close enough or wag my tail enough. I love the way you wrote this post, it’s so true, I hung on every word. Hugs, C
Thank you so much Cheryl!!! I feel the same way I can’t get enough of them and even though I knew Monday would come, my heart still broke a lot. Ughhh this parenting thing never gets easy! Darn kids🥹
Look on the bright side, you had him with you for the long weekend

We are truly grateful to have people who make saying goodbye harder. It surprises you every time how much you can feel.
Gracee you are right!!! It does surprise me just how hard you can love and how empty you feel when that person is away.
Thank you for saying that 💜

Times like these are the ones you never want to come to an end! Yet, it gives you something to look forward to. Love this and my heart was full along with yours! 💖💛💜💚🧡🤎
Thank you Kym!!! I cooked and cooked and cooked. My son smiled the whole time and was ready for each meal so it was worth it. We had such a great time and it was hard to say bye but I will hold this joy until we are alll together again.
Well Emeril Lagasse, I knew you threw down! 👩🏽🍳🥘👩🏽🍳 Thank goodness you didn’t fall out rolling all over the floor like Patti LaBelle this time! 🤣😝😱😅😂 I think you are becoming a little more adjusted now! I don’t think we have to talk you off the ledge at this point, cause you are too busy planning your next big family feast! 🥰💖😍 Proud of you Mama Diva!
Girl I had to put on my big girl panties and be strong for my boy because he’s soo homesick! My poor baby.
Awwww, it’s good to hear that he is homesick. That should put a huge smile on your face Big Mama! 🤗💖😊
It is but tugs at my heart. But when I talked to him yesterday he sounded like he old self!! 😍😍
Awwww, now that’s comforting! 🤗💖😘
I am glad you got to spend the weekend with your son. My son lives in New York City. We don’t get to see him often. The times he comes home are priceless.
