Being Unhealthy Is Easy

About four years ago, I was looking at old pictures of me, and I thought, my God, the day I took this picture, I thought I was fat!

I am utterly amazed at how fast weight can pile on my bones—leaving me feeling like professor Klump. Okay, maybe not that big, but close. I have seen my weight go up to 40 pounds higher than when I was in the best shape of my life. And I would sit there thinking, “what the hell did I eat”? But instead, I should ask, “what the hell didn’t I eat”?

Sluggish feeling takeover

When we are unhealthy, we become sluggish; this feeling doesn’t necessarily have to do with weight. But it does have to do with your level of activity. Let’s get one thing straight: you can be healthy and not thin and slim and not fit. I’ve worked with both types.

No matter your size, when you feel sluggish, you need to move like your house is on fire because it kind of is. Once you lose control of the fire, all hell will break loose and medical expenses will greet you with a BIG FAT BILL.

That’s the easy part.

Getting out of shape is the easy part. High fat, processed foods are everywhere you look. You literally can’t drive two minutes without passing by a Starbucks, fast food restaurant, or a dine-in “upscale restaurant.” But, even if you choose an upscale option, you can still make bad choices. Certain foods are not agreeable to everyone, and it’s up to you to figure that out.

That’s the hard part.

Getting your body moving is hard; if it were easy, everyone would do it! But unfortunately, we can all come up with an infinite number of excuses as to why we don’t have time to get fit or the desire to push ourselves. So instead, we look for the easy way out.

Anything sounds better than putting in the damn work!

It’s up to you to decide if you want to live a little longer, walk without getting out of breath, throwing away medication to help you deal with your past bad choices.

It’s up to you to decide if you want to start living life of freedom and zero restrictions.

It’s up to you to decide if you will start your fitness journey today. If you don’t start it today, then WHEN?

Getting fit ain’t easy, but it’s worth it!

You could have chosen any blog to read, but you chose mine, and I’m honored!

    1. That’s it right there!!! Being active is the goal!! A lot of body builders are cheating thier way to getting massive results and it can make the rest of us feel a little less than. But I bet we live longer because we’re doing it the right way. Keep at it my friend!!! Cheers to health and wealth💜🙏🏽🙌🏽

  2. Amen. You said this very well. Rooster and I are still going to the gym six days a week. We are also watching our diet. We are starting to see some great improvements in our health.

  3. Today was the first day of school. I’m determined to keep moving this year even if I’m exhausted so I started this morning with the stairs (6 flights) from the parking garage to my classroom. Then we had a fire drill (4 more flights down and 4 flights up). Looking forward to the day I can do it without feeling like I’m dying!

    1. OMG!!! That’s worth celebrating 🥳 good job. You will definitely feel like you can go go go by Thanksgiving break! Cheers to a safe and amazing school year!

  4. I totally agree Belladonna, move, move, move! There’s no way around it. It feels especially punishing to writers because I would prefer sitting on my ass all day long, sipping coffee, and writing to my hearts content! I have to force myself to get out of the chair, into the tennis shoes, and onto the street. It always feels good after the fact! Great post. Hugs, C

    1. I’m write there with you. Once upon a time I was a dancere, in the military and a personaal trainer but now I feel like I’m back in college, writing and reading all the time. Yes getting up and moving never dissapoints!

  5. So true, it’s so easy to have the wrong habits and lead an unhealthy lifestyle. So much harder to live a healthy life but so much more worth it.

  6. Guuurrrrrlllll, I wished I learned this lesson a few decades ago. Too much emphasis is placed on weight instead of the healthy lifestyle we need to focus on. Thanks for an excellent reminder Belladonna. 🏃🏽‍♀️🏋🏽‍♀️🏌🏽‍♂️
