Driving Me Bananas

Oh, the new things I learn every day.

As you read this article, remember that everyone’s digestive system works differently. In addition, we all have different body types. What works for you may not work for others. Therefore, throw out any article that suggests one diet rule fits EVERYONE.

For instance, the rules change every day about bananas, apples, and chocolate, and the list can go on and on.

I’m sick of it!

Advice From Weirdos That Wrote Articles In 2005

Many articles state; that bananas are a leading factor in causing belly fat and are 25% sugar. Therefore, they should never be eaten alone but with bacon, oatmeal, and black coffee. In addition, eating bananas was said to be unsuitable for the digestive system and cause bloating for EVERYONE.

So here I am, thinking I do not have time for all that.

I NEED A QUICK MEAL, and these articles were ruining my schedule!!!!

Then I was faced with yet another weirdo, and he told me that eating an apple is ideal(AND THAT’S IT) before cardio/weight training. So, like an idiot, I did just that, and I instantly felt like I was going to fall flat on my face.

What are we accomplishing if we are too weak and hungry to complete a workout?

Let’s skip forward to 2019

Bananas are back on the menu!

One large banana is sufficient to sustain a 45-60-minute workout. You can blend them in your smoothies or eat them as you walk out the door.

And Here We Are In 2022

Bananas are still on the menu. They are my go-to source for muscle recovery and controlling hunger during and after my workout. Muscle cramping, headaches, and low energy are a thing of the past. And never will I ever bring back the false statements of 2005.

Few Benefits From Eating Bananas

  • Bananas Contain Nutrients That Moderate Blood Sugar Levels
  •  May Improve Digestive Health
  • May aid weight loss
  • Contains powerful antioxidants
  • It helps you feel full
  • Improves insulin sensitivity
  • Improves kidney health

Nutrition is everything and without it working out is a waste of time!

You could have chosen to read any blog, but you chose mine, and I’m honored.

  1. I’ve been back and forth on the banana issue for a few years! When I was paleo, they were fine, keto-no go. I ate one Tuesday AFTER my smoothie instead of in it, I had the worst bloat! Worked out a bit later and felt somewhat better. So you’re saying they are best as a pre-work out snack? I’ll try that next time!

    1. Kim I’m right with you! I’ve been back and forth with bananas for years.
For quite sometime now I eat them in the morning or an hour before I workout.
I think it’s important to keep an eye on what you eat with the banana or after. The female digestive system and the way we hold on to EVERYTHING we eat can be so difficult to figure out. 🥺😩

We should do and eat what suits our body. Banana is great source of energy. Some people eat it before the workout, some eat after it. It provides necessary energy. Best wishes BELLADONNA
