Your pretty AIN’T pretty

Welcome to a world where “shallow” pretty ain’t pretty anymore.

I have said it a thousand times that what you look like on the outside isn’t the only thing that matters!!!!!!!! SO WHAT ELSE ARE YOU BRINGING TO THE TABLE. Because your looks aren’t entirely giving what it needs to provide in order for that to be enough. I don’t care how beautiful or handsome you are; you need to be more than that!

I have seen so many little girls run around with a face full of makeup, little to no clothes on, dumb as a box of rocks, and throwing themselves at the first little pea brain that looks their way. 

That ain’t pretty! 

Honey, that’s the definition of pathetic.

If any of my readers are parents, grandparents, auntie, or uncles, I need you to tell the young people in your life that they need to put looks on the back burner. Instead, their focus should be on creating a clear path for a prosperous future. 

When we put pretty in the forefront, insecurities, mediocrity, unproductive self-evaluation, low self-esteem, and self-sabotage will soon follow. Not only that but once you are on the hunt for validation, ridiculous and life-changing mistakes will be next.

Pretty is trying so desperately to keep up with the next pretty that the only thing that matters is trying to outdo each other. They live for people telling them that they are “soooooo beautiful.” Never once will they hear the words you are:

  • Brilliant
  • Intelligent,
  • Honor student,
  • Honor graduate
  • Bright future ahead of you
  • Ivy league student 

Never will they receive a scholarship for a full ride to a prestigious college. But what they will hear is, “you are so pretty.” (INSERT EYE ROLL) We have to push our youth to be more than that.

In a world full of pretty, “shallow” pretty will soon find out that their kind of pretty ain’t pretty.

    Honey, that’s the definition of pathetic.
    Made me laugh out loud and I Love how you say it my friend!! I agree with you and appreciate the direct stance you take regarding this topic – so much suffering comes from this appearance based judgments and fixations, precious life wasted and not valued for so much that is possible.

      Yes it’s such a waste of precious time. You are so right there is entirely too much suffering from focusing on only outward appearance. Thank the constant comparisons is so tiring.

  3. Oh no, not the insert of the eye roll! LMBO 😱😂😲 Honey chile, evidence of this is more widespread than one would expect. “Pretty is trying so desperately to keep up with the next pretty that the only thing that matters is trying to outdo each other.” You were spot on with that statement.

    Society has always pushed “pretty” (to look like the hour glass celebrity or online influencer) but shallow pretty, well now, that is indeed a trip down greater insecurity, disappointment, and depression. Great points Belladonna! 👏🏼😊😉

  11. Yes, Yes, Yes….that shallow pretty ain’t pretty it’s ridiculous and pathetic. As a woman and mentor I try to teach this every chance I get.
    Stop being flattered over the foolish….if he’s in your inbox he’s also in somebody else’s. You so pretty don’t always mean beautiful 😳 9.times out of 10 it simply means pretty stupid because you’re gonna pick up whatever trash they’re laying down.
    Keep teaching sis….this was so on point.
