Some people are born tough enough to handle the circumstances they were given.
Some were not!
The man I am honoring today wasn’t born with a silver spoon in his mouth. In fact, just the opposite stands true for him. When he least expected his life to take a turn towards an unexpected direction, it did just that.
He passed up a scholarship to play football to concentrate on academics. His academic scholarship helped him decide to hang up his cleats. I don’t think he regrets his decision, but I often wonder. But knowing him the way I do, I would lean heavily towards no. Even though, when our son suits up, he always says, “I wish I was playing with him.”
To clarify, he wants to remain exactly who he is, a 43-year-old man, but still play alongside his 17-year-old son. The thought of that is so amusing to me, and we always get a laugh after he says it.
Anywho, I met my husband when he was 15 (knew him but didn’t date yet). He was intelligent, athletic, funny, and given nothing without fighting for it.
People say you can tell a lot about a person by looking into their eyes. I don’t know if that’s entirely true for everyone. Many people can fool you into they are someone they aren’t. Their eyes deceived you, and your heart fell for it. I think that’s why I was skeptical about falling in love with this guy.
His eyes were kind… a little too kind. You know that type of kind that will suck you in, and then right when he’s got you, he bites you. So then there you are left with half of an arm, footless, two crooked eyes, and heartless.
But nope, I was wrong… he left me whole.
Happy Birthday to my feisty Scorpio, he was born tough and I love that!
I purposely waited for the start of a new month to celebrate him because I wanted to write about everything sweet in December, and what better way to kick it off.
You could have chosen any blog to read, but you chose mine, and I’m honored!
