Transgender People ~You Are Visible~

Because why not?

Yes, yesterday was dedicated to celebrating transgender people and bringing light to all of their beautiful faces. But I wanted to start my month on a positive note and continue making them visible!

So to all of my trans people, this is to you.

To live in a world and feel like you’re not a part of it has to be the absolute worst feeling. I can’t imagine feeling uncomfortable in my skin and have to endure others’ criticism on top of that.

Feeling like you were born in the wrong body is no one’s business. So voicing an unsolicited opinion is disrespectful, rude, and obnoxious. One rude remark can be the tipping point of a highly emotional person. And can cause them to feel like the only way to deal with life is not too.

But you matter and the violence, hate, poverty, and prejudice that the community faces has to come to an end. I like so many others use my voice and fight back when I hear jokes being made and inappropriate terminology being used.

My mom always says,

“words have power,” and I believe that with my whole heart. The words you choose can build someone up or rip them apart.

The one thing that I’m sure of is my love will never waver. I have zero control over the comfort level that my children feel in their skin. If either one of them came to me and said, “this is not who I was meant to be,” I would support them and pray that their skin becomes as thick as a rhinoceros, in the hope that the words and actions of others will never allow them to choose death over life and depression over joy.

And to continue to hold their heads high and know that they owe no one an explanation for doing what makes them happy.

So today and every day, I celebrate transgender people and walk one in your journey.

You are visible
You are visible
You are visible

You could have chosen any blog to read, but you chose mine, and I’m honored.

  1. this is such a good post. If these things are not properly talked about in a safe setting, itll just lead to hiding, acting out, and anger. Im so glad that you are supporting people for who they really are.
