You Are Not Selfish
Why do we feel like we are selfish just because we want time to get ourselves together?
I can’t tell you how many women I know that means the same story. They have a husband, children, and, God forbid, a pet. Because we all know who will be responsible for the pet…..MOM! Your family will say they’ll pitch in, but they won’t. The woman will even go as far as putting that darn animal’s needs before hers, steadily sliding down the scale… bit by bit.
But what we don’t realize until it’s too late is that we need to practice all of the things above. We DESERVE to practice self-care. Our families can’t function properly without us; we are needed. We have to stop pushing signals of failing health to the side and chalking it up to being tired. You might be tired because you are overworked and getting around on less sleep than you use to. But getting proper rest is only a piece of the puzzle.
Yearly exams and Unscheduled Appointments
Making it to your yearly exam and going to the dentist is a MUST! Most women moan and groan about going to check on their health, so no matter how we feel, we will push that on the back burner. Then we purchase vitamins and complain about needing more rest. But it may be crucial to our health for our doctor to run a series of tests to ensure that we are okay. There is a strong possibility that our bodies need more than a VITAMIN.
Furthermore, it is RESPONSIBLE to make appointments throughout the year. You don’t have to wait until your yearly exam. ALSO, you need a Family physician; they are meant to be seen throughout the ENTIRE YEAR!
I have ignored signs of my health failing for over 15 years, and my mission is to make sure I encourage as many women as I can to stop doing that.
I’ve listed ten essential things that we need to do more of but trust me, I could have gone on and on. These are just the top 10 to get us on the right track to practicing self-care.
I hope this was helpful, and I’m looking forward to continuing this conversation and touching on the remaining 9 must do’s.
