‘Tis The Season To Choose’

We don’t get to choose certain loads we carry, but we can choose how we carry them.

Not every problem is a problem, and not every load is worth carrying. Somethings need to be hand-delivered to our hire being. Allowing yourself to walk around like a wounded and broken figure will not, and I REPEAT will not do you a lick of good. Looking broken will not fix you.

Looking at defeat in the eye and saying “NOT TODAY SATAN” is the most rewarding feeling. If you’ve never said that, please say it the next time something heavy weighs on your spirit. I promise you will instantly feel free. When that sense of freedom sets in, you will begin to look at your problem through a different set of lens. Instead of seeing the problem, you’ll see solutions.

For instance:

‘Tis, The Season To, Be Jolly’ like literally.

This is the time of year that we all shove down wine, mixed drinks, cakes, pies, cookies, or whatever your poison is. After our binge-fest, we stay up late and sleep late and have the audacity to complain about having low energy. NO SURPRISE THERE! So how about avoiding this feeling by pushing sweets away until Saturday. Make a plan to drink plenty of water, go for a walk, practice yoga or light lifting and cardio 4 or 5 times a week for an hour. BOOM, problem solved. Your problem is no longer a problem. Don’t allow weight to bring your spirit down; it’s just not worth it. YOU CAN FIX THAT… I promise!

‘Tis The Season To Be Brokelike literally.

This is also the time of year that we show love by exposing a heavy price tag and then spend months paying for it. Lord forbid if decide to prove love to more than one person. You wait for the glimmer of shock and happiness in your loved ones’ eyes. And then once the season is over, you are left to deal with more than taking down the tree. You suddenly find yourself shooting daggers at your empty bank account and dodging all bills.

Slowly you begin to have regret and begin setting a tight budget that a homeless man would give the side-eye to. You then find yourself STRESSED OUT! And all for what? A gift that you couldn’t afford. To avoid this problem you can start by not making it a problem.

  • Bake goodies for presents
  • choose 1 main gift and a bunch of fun stocking stuffers.
  • learn to coupon and shop when items go on sale (because they do)
  • Start (couponing) shopping throughout the year and put the gifts where no one can find them
  • Look for estate sales or garage sales for big-ticket items.
  • Facebook garage sales are AMAZING.

Let me go into detail about Facebook’s garage sale.

Last year I sold a Barbie dream house, Barbie cars, and Barbie for a fraction of the cost that I paid for it. I made a family’s Christmas so freakin amazing because of the savings from buying used but perfect condition toys.

Being Broke shouldn’t be a problem, so don’t make it one.

‘Tis The Season To Be Miserable

Unfortunately, this is also the time of year that so many people suffer from depression, and often times this feeling isn’t your fault. But what if you took that sadness and instead decided to bring a smile to someone else’s face. Someone that may be suffering from an illness that they won’t come out of. Cook a meal and leave it at their door (stay safe…covid is going strong). I know it’s difficult to pop out from depression. I’ve been there. And I know that I have to be around good people during those times or read an uplifting book.

Some things are out of our control, and those are things that we let go of and let God be God. Then there are problems that we create and can turn them around… if we choose too.

‘Tis the season to choose.’

You could have chosen any blog to read, but you chose mine, and I’m honored!

  1. Thank you for your post. You are right about it being the season to choose. My husband and I came up with a great idea on how to get off the endless expensive gift train. We are older and are on a fixed income. We discovered we didn’t always know what the cool present for grandkids is these days. We decided to make memories instead. We have a big Christmas breakfast and invite the entire family to attend. After breakfast, we take everyone to the movies. Anyone that doesn’t have other family dinners to attend, end up at a Chinese restaurant for the evening meal. Covid-19 might make it hard this year, but we plan to do some version of it because it is so much fun. Nobody ends up broke at the end of the day.

    1. I LOVE THIS!!! That’s what the holidays are all about. Spending time with each other and showing love by being engaged with one another. Those are the best memories and totally priceless♥️♥️
With Covid being present you might have the restaurant to your self or just a few other families because the owners have to follow policy and allow social distancing. So this may be the best Christmas breakfast yet😍
