Off The Sauce

We all go through seasons….

We can choose to stay in that season or come out of it. Then look back and say, God, thank you for carrying me through those troubled waters. I will never judge how someone handles themselves when they are going through difficult times.

I have had my fair share of seasons that literally drug me down!

When I was a youngin, I drank ALOT! Every weekend my friends and I were drunker than drunk. Then when I was 21, I stopped. Yes, when I became legal, I stopped. I didn’t need to chase a feeling that I only felt when I was drunk.

Being intoxicated helped me become someone that no longer felt pain, and I loved that.

Out of nowhere, I found myself in that situation. But it was different this time. I wasn’t running from pain or trying to escape from my current life. I was simply doing what everyone else was doing. I can’t tell you how many people I know that go straight for a drink when they are eating dinner. Better yet, they will skip dinner and dive into their drink of choice.

I found myself doing this every night. I would have a glass of wine or two during the week and then margaritas on the weekend. My husband and I work and run around with the kids all the time, and we felt like we needed this downtime.

But here’s the thing my mood would be altered on Saturday and Sunday. I found myself dragging and not being all that I could possibly be.

So two weeks ago, I said NO MORE! I will no longer drink anything that alters my mood. I have things to do, and it requires me to be alert.

I mean, here I am telling my kids not to do what others are doing, and I’m doing just that!

The thought of drinking alcohol disgust me just as much as smoking anything.

So I would like to know are you doing things…….

  • Out of boredom
  • To fit in
  • Because they became a habit
  • Because it’s an easy escape

or any other reason that comes to mind.

And if it’s easy for you to stop but yet it was so bad for you, then why are you doing it? Also, why put yourself through a season that could have been prevented?

Totally asking myself these questions. But I would love to hear your thoughts.

You could have chosen any blog to read, but you chose mine, and I’m honored.

  1. Maybe there wasn’t any better option in sight! Other than the season you were in.

Hope you do well! Seems like you will teach fitness lessons soon. 😊 Take care!! Happy to read your posts.
