The One Where: She Welcomed Fall

Because of my love for the sitcom “Friends,” my theme this month is dedicated to that love. The title of every sitcom started with “The One Where.”

Okay, this year so far has been one that we will not soon forget. My household is still doing virtual learning, and our schedule is packed with sports. A pretty good balance for us if I do say so myself.

I have to admit that my husband and I are getting used to having the kids home, and we like it. I know they are ready to get into school and laugh and joke in the hallways. So we keep our joy bottled up until we are alone.

But you know what!

Now that I think about it, my kids haven’t complained one time about being home, and I suspect the joy will only thicken.

“Why”, you ask

Because……..

It’s fall y’all, and the good treats are baking. Feeling the house up with warm, cinnamon delights. The last goodie I made my kids and husband rushed into the kitchen like the house was on fire. I don’t think my pound cake had time to cool before their greedy hands reached for a slice.

As a matter of fact, I’m making another right now. I needed to start this Fall Monday off with goodness and joy in the air. Less face it after this year, we all need as much pleasure as we can get!

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup vanilla yogurt or yogurt with cinnamon
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1-1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup room temp butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • dash of salt
  • 2 tsp of vanilla extract
  • * if you want, add zest from a small orange (optional)
  • *(optional) tsp of cinnamon and nutmeg

Quick steps and Video

Cook on 350 degrees for 40 minutes

One thing that I’ve learned over the years is to add all the dry ingredients, leaving out the flour. Mix all of the wet ingredients.

Then mix the dry with the wet mix well

Slowly add the flour. I do this last because you can’t take out flour if the batter is too thick, but you can add if needed. So take your time and slowly add flour.

You could have chosen any blog to read, but you chose mine, and I’m honored!

      1. You’re so very welcome, sweetie. And I understand completely. I too have been trying to comment on yours and other blogger’s posts and for some reason, WP won’t let me comment on quite a few posts. I’ve also had other bloggers tell me the same thing and read in Reader of it too. So, I think that WP is having some technical issues here lately! Hopefully they’ll get it taken care of.
