Masculinity… Type A -Vs- Type B

Are there only two types of men?

Type A ~ competitive, ambitious, impatient, aggressive, fast-talking.

Type B ~ relaxed, non-competitive

Okay, here are the two types of personalities that society will put men into. I think that’s a bit absurd to think that millions of men can be placed into two categories. So if you are relaxed, then you aren’t ambitious? That’s ludicrous.

As humans, we are always rushed to put people in a box, seal it up and push it to the side. We are so much more than a quick label. Doing this brief analysis of someone will force you to remain in that “single life.”

Possessing one characteristic from Type A shouldn’t automatically dump you entirely into that box. Not to mention that some of the traits in Type A are annoying, but according to the definition, you seem to be more likely to “succeed” ( insert eye roll).

But whatever let’s play along shall we.

I have several single friends, and we go over and over the type of man they are interested in. I have never had a friend that said they wanted a man that lacked ambition. That’s usually the opposite of their desires. However, they are looking for someone ambitious, knows what he wants in life, and willing to work hard to get it.

On the other hand, having someone calm, cool, and collected is a precious characteristic. My friends are looking for a man that is MASCULINE but knows when to dial that down or turn it off if need be. If you are confident in your manhood, then you don’t have to be on 10 all the time.

Let me explain….

Let’s say you are a man, and you’re in a relationship with someone, and you just so happen to lose your job. Then here comes your partner showing you not only a check but a bonus on top of the regular check. Your manliness should not prohibit you from being excited and celebrating that moment. I promise you that your manhood is not in jeopardy.

Unless you are with someone that is just as Type A as you are.

If that’s the case, then swim at your own risk!
