Nope, it’s not June 19th anymore, and hat’s why I’m writing this. Black people have waited for equality forever and a day. And now, eyes are being opened up, and white people see what we have endured for a lifetime!

A day late and a dollar short!

Juneteenth is the day that slaves were freed. After having their lives ruined since 1619. Beaten, sold, raped, and treated like the trash that you would break your neck to take out to the garbage bin because the odor is taking over your home. THAT’S US!

A day late and a dollar short!

The White Lion had the nerve and the audacity to forcefully take 20 people, not slaves…PEOPLE! You hear me……. they were PEOPLE! White Lion took these humans ashore in the British colony of Jamestown, Virginia. This was the beginning of the end of freedom.

On June 19th, slaves were “freed,” and oh how I use that term oh so loosely.

Slaves were expected to find a new normal. Here we are in 2020, and half of you are in search of a new normal and complaining about wearing a damn mask. What if your mask couldn’t come off? What if the mask you wore stayed with you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and you couldn’t remove it. Not even if your life depended on it.

Yeah, thanks for the freedom, even if it was a day late and a dollar short.

Our freedom didn’t give us freedom. We are still hunted, being shot down, strangled, lynched, and deprived of all the basics. Deprived of having an education that can grant us the privilege of obtaining a college degree.

I am proud to be one of the lucky ones to have a college degree. My ancestors would be proud of me. I did what they could only dream about. They died so that I could live. Therefore I will be damned if I let this world attempt to silence me.
