Today I want to get something off of my chest! I was talking with an ex-client of mine, and she told me why she quit my program.
Well, she kind of felt like she had to tell me because when I ran into her, she looked completely different. At first, I was speechless then with an attitude…
I said, “Hey, have you been cheating on me”.
She put her head down, and her face turned ghost white, and for a minute I thought she had stopped breathing.
Then she finally said, ” I had a mommy makeover.”
I was pissed! Don’t ask me why I just was. I took a deep breath and asked her, “why,”? She was doing so well with me and we put in a lot of blood, sweat, and tears throughout her journey. She was my client for 6 months and had lost 30 pounds. She went from walking 1 mile to being able to run 2 miles without stopping.
Then out of the blue, I get a phone call, and just like that, she dumped me. I was freaking devasted and wanted answers but she wouldn’t return my phone calls. For months I felt like I did something wrong. It broke my heart to think that I may have been insensitive to her. But after all these months I found out the truth.
We finally face to face. There, she was holding on to her target shopping cart (before COVID-19) and looking down at the ground. She slowly lifted her head, and with tears in her eyes, she said…
“I received all of your messages but I didn’t have the heart to tell you that my head wasn’t in it anymore. I wanted a change and I wanted it fast.”
So while I was her trainer she was placed on the mommy makeover waiting list. When she received her call from him she pushed me to the side and ran for that instant gratification.
I spent months beating myself up and thinking that I did something wrong. But all she had to do was pick up the phone and tell me that she wanted to go a different route and I would have given her my blessing and warm wishes.
So take it from me health coaches, and trainers have feelings.
