Stop It Larry!

I will never forget the day… I was for once minding my own business and walking to my room to get some work done. Then all of a sudden I hear my 10-year-old daughter (9 at the time) yell out;

“Stop wrestling with your blanket like that.”

Something didn’t sit right with me, and I froze for a second, hoping my chihuahua wasn’t doing what I thought he was doing. I slowly walked down the hallway and peeked into the room, and there he was doing what I feared.

Humping his blanket!

For about 2 seconds, my mind was racing, and I thought, should I scream “STOP”?

But if I do that, then my daughter will know that he is doing something he shouldn’t do to his blanket. So I decided to walk in the room and  yell, “Hey, babe, how ya doing?” “You want to go and get some ice cream?”

She jumped off her bed with the biggest smile on her face and ran downstairs to get her shoes on. While she was running out, Larry jumped off of his blanket, and I told him, ” No, stop doing that” and told him to go in time out.

Yes, my dog knows what time out means, he goes to the laundry room to sit in the corner for a while. That’s how we were able to housebreak him. Larry knows that he has done something wrong if he’s being told to get in time out.

Listen, I know he is just doing what he is supposed to do but I don’t want him to introduce this to my daughter. It’s extremely cringy to know your daughter is seeing this and wondering what the heck is going on.

I don’t need Larry to be my daughter’s sex-ed teacher!

I was told by his veterinarian that once he is fixe,d his “activity” level will lessen, and that sounds wonderful. But when I told my kids that Larry was going to have a quick procedure done and that the majority of dogs get unless you are going to mate them.

Well, you would have thought I was saying that I was throwing Larry in a dumpster because all I saw was evil expressions from them and demanding that I rethink this. They are fearful that he will die during surgery.

I have to admit that they did have me spooked and second-guessing my decision until… I saw my 10-year-olds Tik Tok video. There Larry was apart of her short skit and he was humping his blanket.

She said he was the superhero and taking down the bad guy with his wrestling moves.

His surgery is scheduled!

You could have chosen to read any blog but you chose mine and I’m honored!
