I’ll never forget the day we found out the gender of our second baby.
We woke up at 7:30 a.m. and started getting my daughter around for the day. We had to drop her off at my parent’s house before my doctor’s appointment.
When we arrived for my appointment I asked my husband what he thought we were having and he quickly responded,
” I don’t care as long as it’s a healthy baby”.
I gave him a little glare with one eyebrow, arched up in a sarcastic manner. I couldn’t resist but to ask him one more question about the sex of the baby.
So I pressed on and said, ” What would you do if the doctor said, congratulations you are having a boy”?
He said ” I would say great now let’s count those toes and fingers and see how everything else is looking”
I couldn’t help but laugh really loud in the waiting room. I’m sure people thought I was a crazy lady but hey that’s just who I am. My husband always says I’m super excitable… I can’t deny that!
After waiting for about 40 minutes, it was finally our turn to see the doc. I didn’t give him a chance to ask me all the usual questions. I blurted out,
I’m feeling good
No morning sickness
I’m eating all the foods I’m supposed to
Getting lots of rest
I’m taking my vitamins
Now let’s get to the ultrasound. He laughed like he always did at me and said okay.
I laid back and felt that cold gel that always made me shiver. Then we stared at the screen. My doctor told me to relax and please breathe. So I did. He then showed us that our baby had 10 toes and 10 fingers, his heart looked great, and he was growing remarkably, and then he said,
“Okay, here we go!”
My husband leaned forward, and his eyes were glued to the screen; he hadn’t blinked for about a minute. His hands were gripping each other so tightly that I thought they were going to start bleeding.
Then the doctor said the four words that had my husband jump out of his chair.
I ——–see——–a——–hotdog!
My husband landed on his feet with a thud. Then said with a panicked look and slightly out of breath “what does that mean”?
The doctor laughed and said, “your baby is a boy, you’re having a boy”. My husband fell into my arms and cried like the proud father he is. On February 10th, he blessed us with his entrance into this world.
Then we blinked and he was 16.
