Today started off kind of unbelievable but quickly changed when I saw that I made a big mistake. But let’s not get into that yet, I want to tell you how I prepped as best I could the day before so that today would be amazing. I worked out for an hour and a half and then made a chocolate protein shake, one frozen banana, 1/2 cup chocolate almond milk and 1/2 cup of milk. Then I made the most fantastic salad. I heated up my pan and sauteed
- 1 onion
- 1 green pepper
- 1/2 cup of spinach
- 1 large tomato
- 4 ounces of tofu
- Extra virgin olive oil
- pepper
After I sliced all the veggies and sauteed them, I poured the whole delicious pan over a crispy bed of lettuce.
I was totally and completely knocked out for the night by 11:30. When I woke up today at 6:30, I jumped up opened up my blinds and was delighted when I saw the sun shining and not one dark cloud in sight. I made sure my daughter was up and getting ready for soccer camp, and to my surprise, she was already up and getting dressed. I went downstairs and made a cup of coffee. I tell ya ever since I bought a Keurig I’m hooked on a warm creamy cup of coffee. As I sipped my coffee, I opened up all the blinds downstairs and opened a few windows so fresh air could flood into my house.
After I started a load of laundry, I made my way upstairs. I could hardly make it up because I couldn’t stop sipping my dreamy coffee. After one more sip, I made it up to the second floor and made up my bed, my son’s bed because he was already gone to football practice and Makenzie’s bed. Just like that 30 minutes have passed and we rush out the door for training.
After practice, we went to the grocery store and picked all the items needed for taco night. As we pushed the cart out to our car, we laughed and joked about Barney, you know that big purple looney that the kids use to love. But the laughter stopped after I started singing. It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood,
A beautiful day for a neighbor,
Would you be mine? Could you be mine? It’s a neighborly day in this beautywood,
A neighborly day for a beauty,
Would you be mine? Could you be mine?I have always wanted to have a neighbor just like you,
I’ve always wanted to live in a neighborhood with you.So let’s make the most of this beautiful day,
Since we’re together, we might as well say,
Would you be mine? Could you be mine?
Won’t you be my neighbor?Won’t you please, won’t you please,
Please won’t you be my neighbor?
Makenzie stared at me with this blank look, and I was in shock. I said wait you do know that song, right? She said well I think I heard something like that before or maybe not. I mean, how did I fail her and not have her watch Mr. Roger’s calming sole soothing show. As a matter of fact, I failed all my kids and didn’t know it.
This guy was a massive part of my childhood and watching him change from his blazer to his sweater, and his dress shoes to his sneakers were so fascinating to me. He always managed to have perfect timing and laced up his last sneaker right when he struck his final words to his alluring song. But what I remember most is the way he wanted everyone to feel good about who they are. He wanted his neighborhood to be chaos free and for everyone to get along. I want my kids to feel that
So needless to say we will be watching all the old shows so they can get a little bit of the goodness that I grew up on. Oh and yes we will be in the theatre watching Tom Hanks play Mr. Rogers. I can’t wait!!!!
You could have chosen to read any blog, but you chose mine, and I’m honored.
