Chicken Noodle Soup For My Birthday

Yesterday was my birthday, and I couldn’t have asked for a better day. Being greeted with love from my family is more than I could’ve asked for. You see that 3 layer cake below. My baby girl made me that from scratch, and the taste was unbelievable. When her friends saw a picture of it, they immediately asked how much she would charge them and just like that orders came rolling in.

But no matter what day it is and no matter how special it is for you, mother duties never end.

On the morning of my birthday, 9-year-old daughter Makenzie woke up that morning with a headache and a slight fever. My husband made her some breakfast, I gave her medicine and tucked her back into bed. I turned on the fan, so it could relax her and keep her at a pleasant temperature. The curtains were drawn and just like that she was knocked out and snoring.

At 3:00, I tiptoed in her room to check her temperature and give her more water. She looked up at me with tears in her eyes and continued to complain about having a headache. When I looked at her weak little face, I knew that going out to dinner to celebrate my birthday was officially out.

I went down the hall and told my other two kids, Samo and E2, to take off their beautiful clothes and just get comfy because dinner is out. They are both so sweet. Their little faces looked so sad for me. They said, “we are so sorry, mom.” Makenzie was trying to make herself feel better because she thought that she ruined my birthday. I had to explain to her that she couldn’t ever ruin my birthday. The best gift I can have is nursing her back to good health.

So off to the kitchen, I go to make some home chicken noodle soup.

You could have chosen to read any blog, but you chose mine, and I’m honored!
