Chocolate Crescent Rolls

I am determined to learn how to make crescent rolls like Meryl Streep on “It’s Complicated”. I absolutely love every bit of that movie but the baker in me keeps rewinding the scenes of her in the bakery. I think I would feel like I had died and gone to heaven if I had a bakery that looks exactly like hers.

One Day I will!!!

Okay, so there is a scene where she is making huge chocolate crescent rolls for Steve Martin and the way she is rolling out the dough and sprinkling chocolate chips is AMAZING!! I swear I have seen that part a thousand times and it will never get old.

Out of total inspiration from this movie… I present to you my chocolate chip Crescent rolls. Stay tuned for a bigger version in the near future.

Ingredient

  • 1 cup Heavy Whipping Cream
  • 12-ounce package of Chocolate chips
  • 1 can of Crescent Rolls or Refrigerated Dough

Chili Time

It is a cold and rainy day here in Georgia and all I can think about is a comforting meal. I don’t know about you but my go to feel good meal is Chili. The key to really good chili is to stay away from can beans. Just give yourself 5 extra minutes to bring water beans to a boil for 5-10 minutes and then let them soak for 1-2 hours.

I have a large family and we are all athletic and therefore have a healthy appetite. Which means I spend a lot of time in the kitchen. So I like to think of meals that we can repeat at least once in the week.

Enough chit chat…Let’s start cooking!

Ingredients

  • olive oil
  • 3-5 Pound Roast
  • 1 bag of kidney beans
  • 1/2 bag of black beans
  • 1 Large Onion
  • 2 Red Peppers
  • 2 Green Peppers
  • 3 Garlic Cloves
  • Black Pepper
  • Season Salt
  • Oregano
  • 2 (8-ounce cans of Beef Broth)
  • Cumin
  • Chili powder

I always switch up my ingredients, not by much but small details. Such as adding beer or wine to make my sauce. I will add that particular recipe to my blog at a later date.

The first thing you want to do is cook your roast. I put my roast in the crockpot and season it with olive oil, lawrys, black pepper, oregano, cumin, chili powder and let cook for three hours.

While that’s going bring your beans to a boil and then let it sit for two hours then rinse and drain. Sauté your vegetables with olive oil and then add fresh tomatoes.

Place your heat on low and cover until all vegetables are tender. Then add beef broth to your vegetables, add your beans and your roast. Slice your roast into small chunks so it’s easy to pick up with your spoon.

There are several options that you can eat along with your chili such as corn bread, rice, or nothing at all just eat your chili.

Ravioli with Sautéed Spinach

I love the month of December so much. It is a beautiful time of year, and for me, it’s a great time to cook and bake. I hope all enjoy some of these delicious and easy to prepare meals.

During Thanksgiving, I prepared Ravioli with a light cream sauce, and we LOVED IT! But this time I wanted to try it with my favorite pasta sauce. You can find how I prepare my sauce in a previous post. In that post, you will learn how to amp up your can sauce as well as making a homemade sauce. Either way, you will be pleased with the result.

I chose to amp up my favorite can sauce with this particular recipe. I was rushing against time and trying to get dinner on the table quickly. So I grabbed up one of my new favorite items from Target and broke out the pots and pans.

I can’t express enough how much I love the Ravioli from Target. It has a fresh taste and ingredients that I can pronounce. So that’s a win. If I can read them, I can eat it!

Ingredients

  • 1 package of Ravioli
  • 6 to 8 cups of Spinach
  • 2 TBSP Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 2 TBSP of Black Pepper
  • 2 TBSP Garlic Powder or 2 cloves of Garlic
  • 3 TBSP of Oregano

Bring water to a boil and cook Ravioli for 4-5 minutes, drain noodles and set aside. In another pan add olive oil to a warm pan, spinach, garlic powder or garlic cloves, black pepper, and oregano.

Can you imagine if you said this? Your day would be fantastic. But chances are you are doing just the opposite. We have a terrible habit of being so hard ourselves. Continually looking at fat that we want to lose or hair that we wish was different. The list is never-ending.

So as of today, I demand that you STOP!!! Be your own Women Crush Wednesday and then choose to crush on you every single day!

Don’t wait to be somebody else’s crush when you can be your own. I love when I see women that are bold and know that when they walk into a room…they own it. Be the kind of woman that isn’t intimidated to take a seat at a table full of powerful men. Know that you are their equal or superior. Don’t let anyone take away your voice and self-worth. I am a huge believer that you are as strong as you believe you are.

I’m a visionary, dreamer, and an optimist. It took me years to get this way. Once upon a time, I would get so furious when I saw someone looking at me. I automatically thought that they were thinking something gut-wrenching about me. So I would give them the glare of death and well its safe to say if they were thinking something positive they weren’t anymore.


I became exhausted from this way of life, and I knew that I needed to inject change immediately. I started to love myself and remove self-doubt. I know that I’m intelligent, I’m a good person, and I would give anyone the shirt off of my back. I stopped fantasying about changing my view of myself and wanting to be the type of woman that I admired. I started to repeat the following to myself and I now do it on a regular basis:

I will always and forever…………

Be that bold
Be that brave
